A loving home-away-from-home!

Pet care experience

I've grown up with dogs, and really enjoy hosting Rover dogs! They become part of my family while they are here. More mature, mellow dogs seem to be my happiest clients since most of my Rover-regulars fit that description. I'm good with shy dogs who need a little extra TLC to adjust and have had lots of experience in that area. We can go on short walks (up to a half mile) and as have as much backyard playtime as your dog would like. My home is dog-proof to help your pet feel comfortable and relaxed when indoors. Marley, my 9-year-old mixed breed, loves to have new and returning doggie friends to run around with in the yard, or nap the afternoon away. I'd love to arrange a meet-and-greet with you and your dog! I enjoy interacting with dogs of many sizes and temperaments. I especially enjoy uncovering each dog's unique personality. I do not accept dogs under 20 pounds. Meet my pets Marley, a 35-pound, 8-year-old dachshund, beagle, boxer mix. Marley loves to play! He's never met a dog (or person) he doesn't like. Overall, he's pretty mellow and enjoys a good cuddle. About my yard We have a fenced backyard with plenty of grass for running or playing catch, both sunny and shady areas to relax in, and a covered deck. My experience administering medication I can administer oral medications, injections and eye drops to cooperative dogs. I charge $5 per day for injections and $3 per day for any number of oral meds or eyedrops. If your dog needs to go to the vet for anything other than an injury during the stay (it's not happened so far!) I charge $50 for transporting your dog and spending time with the vet.

Donna is great! She was very accommodating and understanding, even when one of my dogs had a few accidents inside. She was very friendly and the dogs came back happy. She sent some pictures and kept me updated during their stay. Thanks Donna!

Briar had such a great time with Donna, as usual! She was kind/flexible enough to take him on very short notice (3 days). She always keeps me in the loop and sends plenty of pictures of Briar playing, exploring the yard and garden or taking an afternoon nap! It gives me great peace of mind knowing that he's at Donna's and is being so well taken care of. I've booked Donna for Briar now 5 or 6 times and hopefully she's the only Rover I'll need!

I enjoy caring for friendly dogs who get along with my dog as well as with people. I accept mainly medium to large dogs (over 25 pounds) and prefer dogs over 2 years old. I always have a meet and greet to be sure that everyone will be happy together, that you and your dog are comfortable with me and my dog, and that your dog(s) are accustomed to staying off the furniture and beds (it's confusing to the other dogs if the rules aren't consistent for everyone.) When caring for multiple dogs I'm careful to make sure that all the dogs get along and I spend extra time working with them as they get to know one another.

A typical day

My neighborhood has sidewalks along quiet streets where we can go on walks, and there's a park nearby as well. We can take walks up to a half mile, and I'm happy to walk your dog separately if that works the best. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog can choose where he or she sleeps--either in the master bedroom or on the main floor of the house. If your dog sleeps in a crate at home, please bring it, along with a dog bed if your dog has one. Time I'll spend with your dog I'm home quite a bit during the day, and I keep my errands down to an hour or two at a time so that your dog will get lots of potty breaks and won't be lonely. When I'm at home, your dog is free to roam the house, and will be given ample opportunities to cuddle and play.
