I have had dogs, cats, horses, and more critters my entire life. Recently retired from serving overseas for 26 years and new to the Portland area. My own very special pup recently passed so I am putting all that energy and love in volunteering at the Oregon Humane Shelter but would like to do more. I miss taking my dog on long walks in the neighborhood, to parks and hiking and would love to be able to do that with your dog if that is what they enjoy. I'm very flexible and happy to create a safe and comforting home for your pup to stay at and you can be sure they will be treated well, loved and cared for. My own dog/dogs were on the large size, a bit nutty and tons of fun so no matter what size pup you have - I would be happy to devote lots of quality time with them. My yard is totally-fenced and private with room for ball-chasing, playing with toys or relaxing in the sun. Fence is 6 feet high but I never leave dogs alone in the yard unsupervised. I do prefer a "meet & greet" before committing to any dog sitting so everyone can be comfortable with how your dog will adjust to me and my home. At same time, we can learn about any special needs, talk about possible "separation anxiety" and of course if your pup has any specific issues I should be aware of while out walking or in the house. I currently don't own any pets and I only accept one dog at a time (unless both are coming from the same family), - so they will be lavished with tons of affection while they are here! Since I'm newly retired I am around a lot so your pup will never be left alone for more than 2 to 3 hours at a time. An added bonus for folks flying in/out of Portland International Airport - my home is a short 15 min drive to PDX. (Please note: drop off and pick up times for boarding are between 6am and 8pm.
