Dogs are my world.

Pet care experience

I have been a pet sitter for 3 years. I love caring for all different breeds, sizes and personalities. My love for dogs and all animals keeps getting stronger as the years pass. I continue to stay abrest of information in the canine world. I especially have a strong interest in dog behavior and body language. I feel that it is crucial to understand why dogs act asathey do to be able to successfully care for others dogs. The learning process never ends. I also am quite interested in canine nutrition. My dog was diagnosed with having a gluten allergy after about a year of her having terrible skin allergies. It was finally discovered after many tests and vet visits, that her dog food was the culprit. Just as people need to eat a healthy diet to maintain good health, so do dogs. As someone who cares for others pets, one of the things I enjoy most is getting out with the pup and getting exercise. Exercise is so important for dogs. It helps to relieve stress and anxiety that so many dogs suffer with. As a pet sitter I am here to help you with exercising your dog when you are not able. Below you will find out more about my experience and qualifications. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Excellence in the care of your pet is my main priority. I am a true dog lover. I am a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. I also volunteer at the Dearborn Humane Society. I am certified in CPR, hemlich maneuver and animal first aid. I have cared for various breeds of dogs with diverse temperments. From puppies to seniors to dogs with disabilities, I have cared for them. I believe in the calm assertive approach with positive affirmation. I would never neglect or abuse any animal! Animals, especially dogs have always been an integral part of my life. I have a 6 year old Lab who captured my heart when I first saw her. She is part of my family. When I care for other people's animals, I treat them as if they are my own. I understand the strong bond between a pet parent and their pup! I have been a registered nurse for 22 years. I worked in many different areas of nursing and loved it! But I always had a dream to work with dogs in some type of capacity. I then decided to retire from nursing and set my sights on becoming a leader dog trainer for people with disabilities. I have seen how patients conditions would immediately improve when our security officers would visit patients with their German Shepherd by their side. Dogs do miracles for the human condition. They love us unconditionally, welcome us at the door every time we come home, help those who can't help themselves, protect us, make us laugh and take us just as we are. As a pet sitter and my general character, I am respectful, trustworthy, dependable, patient, and compassionate. I have my own transportation and I am a nonsmoker. I prefer to do a meet and greet so as to know if I will be a good fit for your family and pup. I will provide references upon request.

Information Donna F. would like to know about your pet

I need to know the breed, age, sex, if spayed or neutered. How is the dogs behavior with other animals? Are shots and vet checks up to date?; Is the dog house broken? Any severe anxiety issues? Is the dog on heartworm meds. Any regular prescription meds? What fun activities does your pup like to do at home? Any favorite objects like a toy or blanket? How often is the dog taken out to relieve him/herself? What kind of discipline do you as the owner provide? Has your dog ever been to a professional trainer? How many times a day does your dog eat? Are treats allowed? Any food allergies? Is your dog crate trained? And of course any other pertinent information that I should know.

A typical day

There is a dog park just a few blocks from me where we can walk and have playtime together. Playing fetch. Teaching dogs commands that they might not already have. Going to an indoor dog park which has a pool, agility courses and play rooms to socialize. The dog would be taken here only with the owners written consent. Lots of hugs and kisses. And of course awesome belly rubs.
