Pet care experience
As a pet owner, shelter volunteer, and experienced pet sitter, I can give your dog a home away from home. I love all animals — especially small ones. My own pets are like my children! I share my house with my husband, who is a true dog whisperer. We have two small senior Chihuahuas, Sid and Pinto. Sid is friendly and is good with visitors. Pinto had a hard life before we adopted him and is more indifferent to dog visitors. As long as they stay away from his food, he's fine with dog guests. We have two wonderful cats, Iggy and Rudy. Iggy is about seven and is a very mellow guy. Rudy became part of the family a few months ago and is more energetic. He's probably around three years old. He loves action, so he thinks our dog visitors are pretty interesting — he likes to follow them around. All four of our boys are rescues, and all are neutered and up to date on vaccinations. I've been fostering dogs for about a year. Usually I foster dogs that are older or having a hard time in the shelter. Many of them have had special needs like medication, physical limitations or behavior issues. I have a lot of experience with senior dogs since I have 2 of those. Our Pinto was originally a foster, and through patience, consistency and structure, we were able to break through behavioral issues and help get him to the trusting little guy he is today. The shelter where I volunteer offers behavioral training, and I'm "Orange level" trained which is the 2nd level. This means I've been trained and approved to handle shy and fearful dogs of all sizes. I'm a very active volunteer for a local no-kill organization and spend much of my free time caring for dogs there. In addition to volunteering, I also train new volunteers. All of my friends have pets, so pet play dates are another fun thing I like to do! Being around animals is what makes me feel most happy and fulfilled. When your dog is in my home, you can expect attentive care and excellent communication. Your pup will be treated with the ultimate care and compassion. You can trust that your dog will be safe and well cared for and that all guidelines for his care will be obsessively followed. I treat all pets guests as if they were my own.
Reviews
Donna has kept my dog, Tegan, almost a dozen times now and I cannot recommend her enough. Tegan is always excited to see her and always comes back home worn out from playing. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy pet sitter.
We were so pleased with Daisy's stay with Donna! It is now her second home!
Prince loves Ms Donna and her Chihuahuas! He always comes back happy and worn out from playing so much.
Donna and her husband took excellent care of our one-year-old bichon pup. We were away for one month, so we a little nervous about leaving him for such a long time. He seem to adjust beautifully. Donna was great about communicating with me. I could tell that she is a very caring and knowledgeable pet owner. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible and compassionate pet sitter.

I prefer small breeds, ideally under 20 pounds but will consider 30 to 40 pounds. I'd also love to know the following: Dietary needs Favorite activities Walking routine and favorite spots Any special medical needs Temperament/energy level Approach to other dogs and cats
A typical day
We live on a half acre lot so there's lots to explore without leaving our property - while on a leash of course. Dogs love our house. It's pretty big — all one story, so no stairs — and it’s completely tiled so potty accidents are no big deal. Our guest room has a low bed and pet steps, perfect for small or senior dogs. We also have gates to create safe zones or door barriers if needed. Since I frequently foster small dogs, our pets are pretty un-phased by visitors. We have a large fenced yard and live in a quiet, low traffic neighborhood called Oak Hill.
