🐾 Rover’s Playground 🤗🐶💕

Pet care experience

Hi, we are Donnie and Lorraine! We care for small/med breed dogs, in our home! We moved to Signal Hill, (near Hilltop Park) from Huntington Beach. We are excited about living in this beautiful community! We are both 39 years old. We started out taking care of dogs through Rover nine years ago, as a supplemental income for us. We have enjoyed the experience so much, that we have decided to care for dogs full time! We absolutely love having the potter patter of dogs in our home! We have a real estate business and are fortunate to work from home! We are huge animal lovers! We have volunteered for Wildlife Assist, an animal rescue foundation, and Southern CA animal shelters. I (Lorraine) grew up on a small family farm in San Diego, CA, caring for a variety of animals. Through Rover, we have cared for over 1000 dogs. Together, we have 40+ years of experience caring for pets. We studied vet tech, dog training, pet photography and have experience administering medication, (topical and oral) iv's, injection, wound cleaning, senior dogs, care for dogs post op, cpr, and dogs with special needs (blind and deaf) limited mobility, and pregnant dogs. We strive to offer the best experience for you and your pup(s)! Your dog(s) will love socializing, and making new friends! We want your dog's stay to be a fun, loving and a happy experience in our home! Your dog's health and safety is important to us, so proof of current vaccines is required. (Bordatella, Rabies and DHLPP) We would love to care for your puppy! We provide puppy training, while they are in our care! If your dog has a LOUD bark, or barks excessively, we would not be a good fit. (Unfortunately, we are unable to care for Beagles, Hounds, Pitbulls, Rottweilers, Huskies, German Shepherds, Boxers, Akitas, Labradors, Shar Peis, or any aggressive, HOWLING/LOUD barking breeds) We are unable to care for dogs who have ever behaved with any aggression, separation anxiety, or LOUD barking. We are closed for pick ups/drop offs on major holidays. You may drop off/pick up the day before or after major holidays. Medication administration $5+/per day, depending on the required care. We also offer baths $25+, grooming and extensive special care (at an additional cost) We can travel up to 5miles, for an additional cost. We look forward to meeting you, and welcoming your pet into our family! 🐾💕

Awesome sitter! Lorraine was very attentive and very nice! She updated us with cute pictures while we were away putting our minds at ease and knowing that our sweet little girl was in good hands. Will definitely book again in the future

Information Donald and Lorraine O. would like to know about your pet

Please inform us ahead of time, if your dog is not feeling well, including diarrhea or vomiting, coughing, runny eyes or sneezing. We would want to know some information regarding your dog's condition. We do not care for dogs in heat. Please let us know ahead of booking, should your dog need special care, such as extensive food preparation, cleaning/wiping, extensive grooming, eye drops and medication etc. Your dog will most likely be playing and socializing with a small group of little dogs, of a similar size and energy level. Your dog's health and well being is very important to us! It is imperative, that we provide a happy, stress free, calm environment for your dog, as well as ourselves. We are unable to care for dogs who have behaved with aggression, humping, unwanted/excessive rough play, any sort of anxiety, (separation from people, unable to play independently of people, anxiety around other dogs), digging or any destruction of property, excessive barking (barks continually throughout the day), a history of escaping/jumping over a fenced in yard, or any other unmanageable behaviors. Please have proof of current vaccine records.

A typical day

We usually care for a small group of dogs (1-3) depending on many factors (age, energy, disability, special needs, pups coming/going within the same time frame and how well we know the dog(s), mother's with litters, etc.) and families travelling together. We spend a lot of time playing in the yard, with the dogs (weather permitting). We love to go for sunset walks to the park. We have a lot of toys for your dog(s) to play with and beds for your dog(s) to take dog naps in and stairs for those who need help getting up on furniture. Your pup can sleep wherever he/she feels comfortable! Feel free to bring any special toys or favorite things from home for your pup! You may bring their bed, blanket or whatever they are used to sleeping with. We have a small sofa at the foot of our bed, pups love to cozy up by us! Your pup will always sleep indoors with us! It is important to us, that your dog feel comfortable and happy. You are welcome to bring any comforts of home, such as a favorite toy, your old T- shirt or treats! While we have everything imaginable for dogs, (tons of toys, bowls, beds, blankets, etc.) we ask that you bring their food, leash and vaccine records. We love to play fetch, frisbee, and for lap dogs, a lot of cuddles and affection! We keep the dogs environment, toys and food bowls very clean. There is always plenty of fresh water available. We have a dog pool, ice water for those warmer summer days, dog brain games, puzzles, tunnels and agility hoops and slide! We always feed each dog separately, so that they feel at ease when they are eating. We will try to mimic your routine at home, as closely as possible! The dogs that stay in our home are well socialized and get along great with other dogs. If there is ever a situation where one dog bothers another dog, we will not hesitate to separate them. They will hang with us, but separate from each other. We believe in positive reinforcement, creating a safe and happy environment. A typical day for us, involves feeding, playing, walks, baths, and cuddling/relaxing with the dogs! We love to take pictures and will keep you updated on your dog's adventures! We monitor their basic health (appetite, energy, bowels and any unusual behavior) We keep a very busy schedule, with walks, baths, outings to the park or beach, play time and transportation. We ask that you provide pick up and drop off times one day prior to your dog's stay and inform us ahead of time of any changes. If updates differ the day of drop off and pick up, a text is appreciated! We are flexible and understand things happen! Flight delays, traffic, etc., you can extend your dog's stay easily, through the site! If need be, we are happy to help, with a trip to the pet store, food prep, or a last minute transportation request! Our business hours are 8 am - 6 pm
