Expert at long walks and cuddles

Pet care experience

Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and who we are :) I have owned dogs for over 20 years now. My husband, Deonté, and I have a lab mix (Milo - 7 years old) and a pit bull mix (Reina - 2 years old) currently. The profile picture is our first family picture together! Many moons ago, I worked in an animal hospital. Because of that work experience, and having owned dogs for 20 years, I am always hypervigilant about and (over)communicate any changes or concerns, no matter how big or small. We don't like receiving surprises when we go to pick up our dogs, so we don't do that to you. Are you thinking about doggy day care or boarding? We would be honored to host your doggy with us! However, we will require a meet and greet with Milo and Reina first. I give Milo and Reina full approval of any in-house visitor because I want to ensure they are comfortable and that everyone is safe. We typically try to get our dogs out for three walks a day. When we're just chilling at home, we'll make sure we're giving your dog lots of affection. There's never a shortage of cuddles around here. Reina is our hyperactive child, so she'll also make sure your dog is playing all day long! Are you thinking about a drop-in visit or a walk? I prefer to do meet and greets before drop-ins or walks, to make sure that me and your dog/s get along. The meet and greet gives them time to get to smell me and get to know, so when I come back they already know me. For drop-ins, I love to play with your dog, give them cuddles, and take them outside. Depending on the activity level of your dog, we might try to play or walk the whole time (again, weather permitting). For walks, I try to walk the full 30-minutes, taking plenty of rests in the shade, and stopping to smell the smells.

My pup had a great stay with Dominique and her family! She is so passionate and knowledgeable. This was my dog's first stay away from home and all of the updates put our mind at ease! We will absolutely use her services again!

Dominique was wonderful with Hank. She updated me daily about how he was and sent pictures/videos. He loved playing with her dogs too! He already misses his friends.

Safety, trust & environment

We live in a ranch with an unfenced yard. Any time we let our dogs out it is either on a walk or on a lead in our front yard. The lead is about 25 feet long and does not extend to the sidewalk, so they are always within our yard. Whenever we let the dogs on the lead they are always supervised.

Home

Lives in a house
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 2 dogs
No children present
Dogs allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 4-8 hours

Information Dominique J. would like to know about your pet

We love to know about your dog's tolerance with other dogs. Otherwise, just the general stuff is good to know. Is your dog an escape artist? Do they not like a particular spot on their body touched/scratched/petted? If your dog (or even your house for drop-ins and walks), has any particulars to it, just let me know.

A typical day

Mornings always start with breakfast and then a walk. Around lunch time we'll do either another walk around the neighborhood or go hang outside in the front yard. The afternoon is usually filled with roughhousing, naps, roughhousing, water, naps, cuddles, and more naps! After dinner, we always go for another walk to allow everyone to poop. Before bed, comes one more bathroom break. Reina will make sure that your dog is playing constantly and having fun, so there really isn't much need for anything else because they just zoom around the house all day!

Availability

I work in several schools during the academic year, two to three days a week. On the days I am not working, I will spend a few hours in the morning working on my dissertation and then spend the rest of the day doing odd things (e.g. errands, cleaning, reading, crocheting, etc.).
