I grew up with herding dogs and currently have a healer. They require a lot of exercise and intellectual engagement. I've found that dog-tired dogs are well-behaved and happy dogs. I'm happy to have high energy workouts or casual walks with sniffs and exploration. My education in psychology (M.S. in Cognitive Behavioral Psych and current Ph.D. candidate in Cognitive Neural Psych) have given me the training I need to deal with minor behavioral issues using reinforcement training. Reward the good behavior, ignore the bad. It's important for me to know your dogs behaviors with new people (e.g., preferences, kids, etc.) and other dogs (e.g., big/little dogs, puppies, etc.) beforehand so we can make sure everyone is safe and happy. I have a flexible graduate student schedule and usually have time in the morning or mid afternoon. Looking forward to meeting you and your pup!
