Hi! I am Despina and I am a recent graduate in the Rockville-DC area. I am a pet lover, and have been pet sitting with Rover since 2019, and a bit before that freelancing. My experience is further enriched with my constant eagerness to look after friends’ and family pets since I can remember. Do not let my intro fool you! I am your pets friend even if they are not furry! I have cared for for tortoises, turtles, parrots, and sphynx cats (which I love a little extra). My love for pets drove me to start sitting and “professionally” caring for them. Given my past experiences, I guarantee that your baby will feel genuine love and affection when passing its time with me. I only know how to treat and care for pets as if they were my own. Depending on your instructions, there are very limited things I wouldn't do to ensure your pet's needs are met during our play day(s), walks, and meet ups. I am also your friend! I am as communicative as you need me to be in your absence; whether you want a shared folder of daily pet pictures to keep you entertained and a bit home sick, or prefer to be off the grid while I take care of everything I am up for the task! Same way your friend would care for your home and pets I do as well— more professionally perhaps.

Despina was awesome! This was the first time I used rover and Despina totally calmed my nerves and made me feel at ease with her updates, photos, videos and clear communication. Despina is great at following instructions also. My cat loved her and I feel confident rebooking with Despina again :)
We love Despina! We’ve used her twice now and she’s so great with our kitties. She sends pic updates each time she checks on them. I feel so much better leaving them for a few days knowing she is checking in.
Despina is the best dog/house sitter we have ever had! I highly recommend her and she took amazing care of our elderly doodle. She is very responsive and left our house in better shape than we left it with her. Thanks again Despina!!!

I am the chill but attentive type. If you have got a “runner”, I pay extra attention to your pet’s whereabouts near openings/closings of doors, and their overall energy. Even if your pet is calm I make sure to always be within arm’s reach. During walks I maintain a safe grip to allow them to explore and sniff around, but not overpower me in the sight of a squirrel, bunny, or a funny tumbling leaf.

Just let me know of any special "rules"/ (dietary) needs/ handling preferences, and commands. I also appreciate tips on any possible “unwelcome” situations (separation anxiety, bark-training, social aggression, furniture chewing etc). I want to further the work you are putting in with your pet’s behavior and routine, not disrupt it!
A typical day
Depending on the pet’s character, I am up for anything from walking around the neighborhood, to playing in the yard, to just lengthy belly rubs, or whatever makes them content.

I’m currently on a job/internship hunt to start off my art curating career; looking for a job is a full time job, but luckily can be done from the comfort of your house.
