Pet care experience

We strive to provide health and happiness for your furry family member! We are a mother daughter team! Between the two of us, we have over 13 years of experience caring for pets in MD, TX and locally. We specialize in large and giant dog care as we have a large and giant breed dog. We enjoy spending our time with pets and their people. I accompany my 17 year old daughter every home we visit. She will walk, play with, feed, water, and pick up after your pets while on a walk. I usually will clean if your pet has made a mess, uses the litter box etc. I have a background in animal care including goats, cattle, horses and your pets at home. My education is in Animal Science and Agriculture. Olivia has worked with her pets, other's pets and horses. She has a special ability to make any horse her friend! She currently works at a pet shop in the area. You're always welcome to follow us on Instagram @petsitmaster. We post more pictures of our experience as pet sitters and your doggy superstar! We look forward to helping you care for your 4 footed family! Because our PRIMARY concern is the health and safety of your furry family member, before we have the stay, ALL dogs MUST provide proof of RABIES AND BORDATELLA (KENNEL COUGH). We WILL NOT ALLOW your dog to board without the proper vaccinations.

Olivia does a great job keeping us updated and caring for our dogs. She took care of a couple of unexpected messes our dogs made, which we really appeciated. We know our dogs are well cared for when we are gone.

We walk our long distances in the morning before the temperature is above 85 degrees. Summer heat can be very dangerous so we do all we can to avoid heat stress. No matter how well your doggie works with you, they might not follow commands from us. Therefore your baby is never off leash when we leave the home for walks, potty breaks, etc. The only difference is at a dog park. We do take your babies to the park with your permission.

Information Desiree R. would like to know about your pet

Because we own a Mastiff and a Great Dane we would like to have our doggy friends to be at least 50 pounds. It is NOT because they are aggressive, they just don’t know their own size! Their paws are as big as my hand. :-) They are very mild mannered and love when we have new doggy friends. The more worried guest is the owner and the little dog if they have not been around large dogs. Mastiffs and Great Danes are the "gentle giants". However, we have had a few guests who were 5 - 15 pounds and they did very well. We do not have any breed preferences. We accept everyone! Our 7 year old is high energy as any 7 year old boy can be. He loves to play with the dogs and feels like there are not enough dogs in the house if we don't have a guest. Due to his energy and love for dogs, we ask that your doggy is good with children. It is preferred that your dog is crate trained so that when we leave, your dog has a safe, personal and comfortable spot. However please do not bring a crate if they do not find their crate to be a safe space or buy one just so they can stay with us. That causes undo stress on a doggy and could result in a negative experience. We do know that accidents happen but we request house trained guests if possible. Please let us know during the "meet and greet" if your doggy has any issues. Please let us know your brand of dog food just in case they run out of food or you request an extended stay and there is not enough food. If you have a doggy with some anxiety issues, let us know. We do make accommodations for them upon notification of the anxiety. You will hear from us often so any needs and/or behaviors we find "out of the ordinary" we will contact you and ask if the behavior is normal and what your preference is when dealing with the behavior. Typically, we will call (if you're available), the owner's voice can be soothing and help your doggy through stress. Most importantly, we need to know if your dog is an "ESCAPE ARTIST." We need very clear instructions on how to handle your dog if someone is at the door, when the dog is outside and when we take trips to the dog park. Doggies are very intelligent. They can find their way out of kennels, climb/jump fences, find weaknesses in you fences, dig holes, and anything else you can think of in a matter of minutes. We do have baby gates, however we know dogs can jump those also especially if they are motivated for one reason or another. Many dogs who are homesick will look for any opportunity they can to escape and find you. Please ask as many questions of us as you'd like. We are always available and do our best to ensure that your doogy's stay is safe, happy and healthy!

A typical day

We make visits to the dog park and sometimes we make trips to Petsmart! We have a 7 year old that plays with our doggy guests and he usually keeps them quite entertained! They are always leashed and can only go with owners permission. We do not walk doggies more than a mile during the summer if it is greater than 85 degrees. Summer weather can be very dangerous for your dog. Injuries can include burning of the pads on their feet and heat stroke. During the winter, if it is less than 30 degrees outside we do not walk without parents consent for safety reasons. Further, They will have shortened stays outside due to possible stress, injury, illness, etc. from the cold. We want your doggy to return happy and healthy with a super positive experience.

I work from home. For the most part I am always home with your pets. I usually walk every morning for about 4 miles. During the summer I do not do long walks during the afternoon. Evening walks are usually about a mile. Because we don’t have a yard, animals are always on leash.
