I have been working with and caring for animals in one capacity or another since I was 12 years old. I was fully responsible for walking, feeding, and taking care of my dog starting at that age and I have had multiple jobs that required me to oversee the care of animals since then. I have worked in animal shelters, veterinary clinics, and zoos in a variety of capacities which have given me the experience needed to be excellent at caring for dogs, cats, and other species. My undergraduate degree was in animal sciences so I am well-versed in animal care, nutrition, behavior, and more. Derek totally came through after another sitter canceled a week before I left town for the holidays. Although he only watched my pup for one night (it was xmas eve, so finding a dependable person was even more tricky) he did a great job communicating and being transparent with me when things came up, sent pics and was sweet and attentive with her so I trusted that she was in good hands.
I hired Derek to dog/house sit with my 2 dogs while I was away for 5 days. Both of my girls take medications and have specific requirements for administration. They are also somewhat spoiled and some might say “needy.” Derek took the time to understand their needs, personalities, and quirks and respected my desire to keep their routine as normal as possible while I was away. He was diligent about administering their medications as prescribed and even made his own checklist to ensure adherence. He was also aware of my fears and took precautions to put my mind at ease. Derek walked my dogs daily and made sure they got playtime. He sent photos daily so I could see how they were doing. My youngest has been in training for aggression issues and Derek’s patience with her has really helped her progress in her training. I was able to relax and enjoy my time away knowing that my girls were in good hands. I would highly recommend Derek for anyone looking for a sitter.
Derek has taken care of my two dogs, two cats and some fish I have. I am very particular about how they are cared for and he went out of his way to insure that they were fed properly. He stayed at our home to also give them extra security and keep them in a familiar environment. He spent a lot of extra time playing with and caring for all of my pets. I recommend him to take care of anyone else's pets that they have at home.
