Pet care experience
Dogs of all breeds have been a part of my family since I was born. I grew up with bouviers, a bloodhound, basset hounds, a rottweiler mix, a husky mix, a miniature pinscher, various other mix-breeds, and currently have two adopted pittie mixes of my own who are my life. I learned at a very young age how to properly interact with and train dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperament and they are all welcome around me and in my home.
Reviews
Derek accommodated a late request to board my pups and kept me up to date on their stay. He was so great with them!
Derek is great! Well worth the extra money he charges and takes great care of Myka! Always on time!
Our dog Obi had such a good time with Derek and his dogs! Obi still has some puppy energy and nervous tendencies but is overall a friendly guy, so it was great for him to spend time with Derek and his well-trained, well-adjusted pups. Derek sent adorable pictures and took wonderful care of Obi. I even took home a few (solicited) tips that have helped both us and our dog. Also, our flight got cancelled due to crazy storms and we were two days late getting back to LA... Derek kept Obi and was very understanding and accommodating during the whole mess. Can't think him enough!
I am Derek's mother. I could write a book concerning how Derek cares for and loves animals. I have always believed that he should have been a Veterinarian because of how he respects, loves and cares for animals...especially dogs. He is also an amazing advocate for animals in need of love and support...his Facebook messages always contain dog rescue information. Just last week I mentioned to him that I would like to spend my Thanksgiving working at the Homeless Food Kitchen, and Derek replied "Why don't you help out at a dog rescue location and give some of the wonderful employees there time to be with their families on Thanksgiving". I would not hesitate to place my animal in Derek's care. I so wish Derek lived in Colorado because my two dogs would definitely be in his care when I am out of town.

I live in a house with my wife and my 2 dogs. My wife works from home as well, so there is typically always a human around in case one of us has to leave the house to take care of something. I have a backyard with grass, a turfed dog-run, and a high fence, so while I am home, guest pups are more than welcome to roam around the backyard or lounge around the house as they please (under supervision, of course). If I we have to leave the house for any reason, then guest pups will be crated if there are no humans at home to supervise.

Information Derek D. would like to know about your pet
**THIS IS A REQUIREMENT FOR BOARDING STAYS: dogs MUST have prior experience with crate training and be comfortable being crated for multiple hours at a time. This is 100% a safety issue for both your dogs and mine. When I have multiple dogs that need to be rotated for walks, potty breaks, play time, etc., then crating is necessary for doing this. All pups MUST also be potty trained and dog-friendly as well. All breeds are welcome here (especially bully breeds, German shepherds, and rotties!). Any information about your pup's habits, schedule, and personality ticks are very much appreciated - this info helps me make their stay as comfortable as possible!
A typical day
Your pups can either join mine on our multiple walks per day or get walked separately on their own. We live in a quiet neighborhood with many walking paths and a park 2 blocks away from our house. Outside of walks, we tend to keep things nice and calm around here, letting the pups hang out and play with toys or sniff around outside and sunbathe during the day, then chill with us on the couch and watch some shows on Hulu or Netflix at night.

Availability
I currently make my own schedule, so am available throughout the day to walk, feed, or just hang out with your pup(s) and my own.
