Even my rescue turtle started following me around the room to play. They know I really enjoy them and they feel safe, cared for, and loved. At the last house sit, Olivia, large dog, would follow me even to the restroom and greet me at my car, sleep on the very very tiny twin bed with me (she did not make me go sleep on the floor - shew)! After getting her to not be so shy and scared when her owner went on vacation. Then, she'd flop to demand belly rubs; Chelsea the Chihuahua at her home. Nelson, a 13 year old tabby cat, would bop me on the nose to wake me up at 6 am just because he wanted to chat, chat, chat like a bird, not a cat while I made coffee every morning at one of my overnight house sits. He would Meow and Meow out the screen door to get to me, when I stepped out to give the cleaning lady room to do her job. I work virtually from my laptop, so my work is almost all the time flexible to fit around pets feeding, walking, and play times, so they can live the most stress free time until their fur-less best friends return home. Plus, I cannot have pets where I live, that's why I enjoy tremendously meeting and making as many new animal friends as I can. For safety when walking, I am generally the guard dog to your guard dogs, I will place myself in between other pets coming on an off the elevators and when walking them on the streets. Also, I cross the streets and keep your pets at a safe distance first. I even will ask the puppy's to look left, right, left before we cross the streets, just to build up good habits.
