A safe & happy place for your buddy

Pet care experience

Dogs love me because I "speak" their language. All dogs, young and old, see me as the Alpha. This quality gives them a sense of calm, safety and security. It is my job as their part time Alpha to always protect them. That's the main role of the Alpha. Your dog will be with me or my assistant/husband during the day. We don't kennel the dogs in our care unless the dog is happier in the crate at night. I work to create a safe and well socialized pack no matter the age and size. I specialize in small dogs and their need for socialization. The belief that little dogs don't need much socialization is false. Although they don't require large amounts of exercise, they need socialization like any big dog. Your dog will have an enjoyable and fun time with us. I work from home. In fact, your fur baby is my business and my passion. My doors open for drop off or pick up at 7:00 am to 8:30 pm. I have a yard that has 6ft. privacy fences all around the property. In addition, if you prefer to have your fur baby crated at night, I can provide a crate for them to use. Your pup will never be alone in my home or out in the yard. Even though I have tall fences, that isn't a guarantee they won't get into trouble. I am outside monitoring their activity, whether playing with each other or exploring the yard. The smallest pups I go out with and walk no more than 3' away. Call me overly cautious, but we do have large raptors in our area and this is just another layer of security. Inside, we keep our home as safe as possible. We have locks on food cabinets and store anything that could fall and hurt a pup and what might be ingested and make them sick.

Deb is truly wonderful. Shes one of those people who just knows dogs and has such an amazing sense for how to keep them safe and well. Deb is wonderful about sending pictures and videos of my pup throughout the day, and she's SUPER responsive to messages which I really appreciate. I am pretty picky about where I'll bring my dog because she's really sensitive, but I have zero hesitation about bringing her to Deb. Highly recommend to anyone with a small dog!

This is the first time we had left our pup Lumi overnight anywhere, and the fact that it was for a full week had me incredibly nervous. Deb has an incredibly calm, kind, and gentle demeanor and you can tell she and her husband both really care for the dogs that stay with them. Almost every day I received photos and honest, detailed updates - first that Lumi was a little shy and then a couple days in when she was settling in and making friends. While there are a large number of dogs in their care, its still significantly less than would be in a traditional boarding/daycare, and Deb and Stephen are there around the clock. As Lumi is an only dog at home, this was also preferable for us as we thought it would be a great opportunity to get her better socialized with other dogs. We will definitely call on Deb again whenever she's available to watch our pup Lumi!

When I take the pups outside they are always accompanied either by me or my husband. We are always on site. When feeding, we have gates up in areas so that we may feed the food aggressive pups or slow eaters in quiet areas where they will not be disturbed.

Information Deborah A. would like to know about your pet

I must stress I do not take dogs over 30 pounds as I already have an established daycare for small dogs and some only weigh 3 lbs. If your dog is more than 30 pounds, there are many really good sitters on this site who are more equipped and situated to take your bigger dog. I would prefer to have a meet and greet to get to know the family and be able to ask more specific questions and you can ask me questions too. Please note: I only accept pets that are spayed or neutered. In addition, I use many alternative methods to create calm in your pet and the pack, from acupressure, medical qigong massage and essential oils to sound therapy and specific walking movements, To create a calm, safe and inviting atmosphere for your pet is our primary goal.

A typical day

Because of the nature of my business caring for multiple household pets at a time, I find that what works best is to do play and running games. If I create a safe environment, the dogs gravitate to a dog of their energy level and play drive. It's gratifying to see dogs from different households enjoying each others' company. Most pups go home happy and tired because of the safety and comfort level they have here to meet up and play with different dogs.
