Time spent keeping your pet happy!

Pet care experience

I thoroughy love playing with dogs! Whether it be a game of fetch, a game of catch-n-keep (a favorite of the brown dog pictured), a nice walk, or times of ear scratching & belly rubbing, I will do my best to make your dog love me and our time together! My experience at this time has mainly been with several toy poodles, a medium sized adult poodle, a different medium size poodle puppy, a pug, a cocker-spaniel pug (a personal favorite breed), a standard poodle 16wk puppy, and a few labs (in conjunction with volunteering at a shelter for a short time). I recently also obtained my very own sweet little puppy, Tessa! She is a mixed breed Poodle and is 3/4 poodle (seems to be both Toy and Miniature in her ancestry), 1/8 Golden Retriever, and 1/8 Maltese. She is just about 3.5mos old at the time of this profile update (6/27/21), and full of pep and vigor!! She is just about 8lbs right now, and projected to get up to 15lbs. As of this time, I will not be open for services until we feel our little gal is ready and trained enough for a friend alongside her on walks and or play-times in the yard. If you have a dog who is 15-25lbs, but he/she is people-loving with a sweet & obedient disposition, I could also care for your dog! (I am not a large person, so a hyper large dog would more likely walk me instead of me him/her!) I am also a lover of cats, and have one sweet sassy indoor cat at this time (Elaine—a Torti). She does not care for other cats, so I cannot board any cats for this reason (but can do cat house-calls). I spent time in-house cat-sitting for a shy but sweet Siamese on two occasions of his owners traveling for extended times, have in the past owned and loved a darling orange tabby (my first cat), and have cat-house-called for a couple of other cats. Elaine also does not care for dogs, but shared her space valiantly with the above-referenced poodle-puppy for a 10-day span, without incident (aside from some soft-paw thwap-swatting of said pup’s nose and top-of-head, in reply to the pup barking in her face..... —which, please note, Elaine does have claws, but they are kept trimmed, and since the puppy had no marks nor gave any yelps or other signs of pain, it seems Elaine never actually used her claws on the puppy). Elaine does tolerate smaller dogs better, but will also swat them if they approach her too closely or quickly without her permission (again, with no sign of claw usage, so just a soft-paw thwap). I did create secrete passageways and hide-outs for Elaine when we dog-sat the Standard Poodle puppy, so she now has plenty of cat-sized get-away and hide-out options to keep her feeling low-stressed and safe when a dog comes to visit!😊 I do live in an apartment (with my husband and cat), but it is in the basement of a house, which has a great yard (though it is unfenced). As far as dog-number specifications listed on my profile, though I prefer to care for only 1 dog at a time (whether overnight, day-care, or house-call), I am flexible and could care for up to two dogs from the same family at the same time, as long as they typically get along well with each other, and both are under 25lbs and friendly with my little dog. Timing for house-calls or walks: I am more flexible than 11am-3pm; I could come during earlier or later time frames, on a case-by-case basis. Just let me know what you are looking for, and I will let you know if I can accommodate!

Debi was NOTHING SHORT of AWESOME! Our new Boxer Puppy Piper stayed with Debi for the first time away from home ever, SHE DID FABULOUS! We received regular updates on Piper’s activities, wellness, eating, when she slept and pictures of Piper playing. It truly set our minds at ease to have Debi caring for our “precious newbie” ❣️❣️❣️? We LOVE that Piper Loves Debi....GREAT SPACE for running and playtime. Focused, intimate setting for your furbaby! THANK YOU DEBI !

Debi has watched our dogs (a toy poodle and a minature poodle) many times. She is very loving and patient with them. Our dogs reciprocate her love and get very excited whenever they see her. When she comes through the door, they will try to jump into her arms. She has to sit down while they both try to get into her lap. They become her shadow and want to follow her around. She has actually taught them tricks, including completely rolling over, We would highly recommend Debi to anyone who needs a wonderful dog caregiver.

The yard at my disposal is not fenced. However, for yard-play, I attach a 15ft leash to your dog. This allows the dog to run around freely (I do not hold the other end of the leash), but also allows me to be able to quickly regain control of your dog as needed, simply by stepping on any part of the long leash. Please also be advised, that the yard at my disposal is frequented by more wildlife (beyond the simple birds, squirrels, and chipmunks) in warmer months: wild turkeys, deer, an occasional opossum, once a raccoon, and a groundhog have all been spotted on the premises. This being said, for any daycare or boarding clients, I request a signed statement of your dog being up-to-date on medicines for heart-worm prevention, parasite prevention, flea prevention, and tic prevention. I would also like to note, that in the cooler months last year, a coyote was spotted prowling along the border of our land and the neighbors'. Due to this, I will not be taking daycare or overnight clients in cooler months when coyote activity in our area tends to be higher.

Information Debi S. would like to know about your pet

Please tell me about your dog’s: temperment, obiedience level, favorite treats to keep in my pocket, favorite places to walk, favorite games/toys, & hand signals to use for different commands.

A typical day

Being that I now have a dog of my own, a typical day for a daycare or boarding client will include unlimited playtime with a cute furry Tessa! Weather permitting (and unless otherwise requested by the client), the day will also include playtime in the yard and walks in the neighborhood. I do request that any client informs me of the dog's preferred activity level, and of any activity restrictions. (Tessa is full of energy, so she is always up for long walks or long yard-playtimes, but other dog visitors may not be up for the same, and I would not want to over-extend any pup on my watch!)
