About Savannah

Savannah is very sweet and gentle for a big dog, and thinks every human is her best friend. She likes attention and cuddling. She is normally pretty quiet and likes to explore the yard and chase the occasional bunny or squirrel that is brazen enough to come inside the fence line. Savannah is good with other dogs but prefers mellow ones...she tends to walk away from ones that like to rough house a lot. You have to be careful about leaving your food on counters with her, as she is tall and likes to steal people food left unattended. She's extremely smart, and will figure out how to open gates/doors unless they require opposable thumbs to open. She's very low maintenance.

  • Sex: Female
  • Age: 8 years, 10 mo. old
  • Weight: 80 lbs
  • Breed: Irish Setter
  • Tracking Chip: Yes
  • Spayed: Yes
  • House Trained: Yes
  • Gets along with children: Yes
Savannah is exceptionally sweet and playful. The only thing to watch for with younger kids is her tail, and the fact that she likes to jump - being large, it just means being cautious when she is around little kids that she might bump over.
  • Gets along with other dogs: Yes
Savannah is very friendly with other dogs, but seems to like people even better. She usually will lose interest with the other dog, in favor of exploration of play with a human.
  • Gets along with cats: No
She is not vicious around cats, but will chase them outside if she sees one.

About Carly

Carly is very playful and affectionate. She is the alpha dog in our house (despite being half Savannah's size). She loves attention, and playing games with people (balls, tug toys, etc. & fetch...and she dribbles a soccer ball -with her head- very well). Carly has pretty much energy for a now middle-aged dog, and will always play if you coax her. She's good with other dogs, but will let them know when she's getting tired of playing - first by walking away, then by barking - never mean, but clear in her intent. Carly will eat ANYTHING within reach (which with those legs, opportunities are limited), so you have to watch her around anything edible. She enjoys "bowling for kibble" which is a good way to burn calories chasing down the food while she gets a treat. She obeys commands well; she's also a good (albeit sometimes loud) watchdog, but won't bark for more than a few seconds.

As a herding dog (and an alpha one too), Carly can sometimes be territorial, but is very playful and nice with other dogs in an open setting where treats and toys are not at stake.
  • Gets along with cats: No
She is not a fan, but is not vicious around them.
