Pet care experience
I truly love dogs and have experience working with both large and small dogs. I also enjoy being with cats, as I find them to be the most intriguing animals! I recently read the book, "How to Think Like a Cat," and have a new-found admiration and respect for them. I am dependable, loyal and caring. I took my Chocolate Lab and Boston Terrier to obedience classes when they were young.

I am very affectionate towards animals. I am respectful of other people's property and am mindful of their preferences and pet care routines. The well being of the animals comes first. I once sat for 80 lb. Bernese Mountain Dog who slipped on the deck steps and caught her leg. I gently lifted and tilted her hips to slide out her leg. She was fine. I love and treat the animals as if they are my own. With regard to the owners, I value open communication and honesty. I keep them abreast of goings-on, to the extent that they want to be informed. With the exception of kitchen cupboards, if a door is closed, I don't open it unless I am granted permission.

I am willing to discussing special instructions for dogs and cats with special care needs. Do they take shots or need eye care, for example? I am attentive to what is best for them. Again, open communication with the owner is paramount.
A typical day
I enjoy interacting with dogs in playful and instructional ways. If a puppy is in the house and the owners want me to reinforce certain command, I'm open to doing that. I believe in rewarding the behavior that I want the dogs to exhibit. Cats? Well, I admire their intellect, agility and curiosity. I respect their independence and respond to them according to their terms for interaction.

Availability
During the weekdays, I work as an administrative assistant for a nearby health system. I am also an active member of my church. With house sitting, I do have the option to work remotely (i.e., from the owners' homes) and I prefer to begin and end assignments outside of business hours, when possible.
