Life-long pet owner and lover
Pet care experience
Happy Spring! After a Covid hiatus, I am happily returning to sitting! Have owned 8 dogs in my lifetime as well as cats, rabbits, birds, fish, tortoise, etc. I worked in a dog kennel as my first job (at 14) as well as a pet store. Basically I love animals and would love to look after yours. I live in a newer one bedroom elevator, dog-friendly building in Hell's Kitchen. Half a block away from a large fenced dog run and separate small fenced dog run - 100 feet from leashed small dog area as well. Love animals of all kinds and would gladly sit or look after all animals. Professionally, a former Graphic Designer so I'm home most of the time. Last dog was 15 year old Roger. Before him, rescued 16 year old junk yard dog, Dennis and many other dogs in my life. Have decided to take a break from owning and look after others. If boarding, I prefer to look after one dog or related dogs as to not stress them. Also prefer the same for walking so as to give them the attention they deserve. Flexible with your needs. If dog needs walking more, I'd be happy to do so. Licensed phlebotomist so feel comfortable (and experienced in giving subcutaneous fluids) as well as shots and medicine to all pets, including intramuscular and subcutaneous fluids as well as basic first aid and medicine. I have no issue trimming dogs nails (as long as they do not have extreme nail anxiety), and would be happy to take pets to vet appointments (potential moderate additional charge) as needed. Would love to meet you and your pet. IMPORTANT Although I am very dog friendly, and there are many dogs in my building, ***Due to building regulations BEYOND MY CONTROL or personal beliefs, there's a hit list! I'm afraid, no Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Boxers or aggressive dogs.*** I realize everyone loves their pets and I do but it is the way it is. I see many terms like “leash aggressive” etc, which I understand but I’ve had a few dogs in an elevator who where more than leash aggressive. It broke my heart but I was officially asked/told to remove them by management. So, I ask for friendly dogs when boarding. As I'm 60 and aged out of graphic design, I work from home and currently choose to only look after dogs which takes up my day. I'm open to looking after extended stay animals. I choose to primarily board dogs. As each dog (and their owner's need vary, I can't say I care for any one dog the same. With my dogs, I chose to take them with me when I went to the bank, pharmacy, ran errands, etc. But with dogs I board, I defer to the owner's wishes and schedule. I try to adhere to that so when they go home, it's an easy transition and they don't expect different things than usual. I do volunteer regularly at a soup kitchen - once or twice a week. Not forever, but 3 or 4 hours.
Reviews
David was wonderful watching my sweet 15 year old girl, Daisy. He was patient and kind to her slow moving demeanor. I felt very at ease while away on a work trip knowing that Daisy was being well cared for. I would defiantly use David's services again when the time arises.
David was a great host and very loving towards Chablis. She was comfortable from the moment that she arrived. She loved her first experience at Rover!
Highly recommend!! David is amazing!! My two young dachshunds can be a handful but David’s calm demeanor and patience was a perfect match. The dogs loved being with him. He even clipped their nails! David is a true dog whisperer and I’ll be using him again.
David took great care of my dogs, Yoyo and Kaya, for almost two weeks. He loved them and treated them well and they were very happy in his care! Thank you, David!

I usually like to know a dogs schedule, eating times (and amount). I have no issue with disabled dogs but would like to know the specific nature and extent of disability beforehand.
A typical day
Half a block away from a large fenced dog run park with a separate small fenced dog run. 100 feet from leashed small dog area as well.

This depends on your dogs need and personality. With my personal dogs, I tended to involve them in my daily errands and take them with me. They turned out friendlier and mellow. But will do whatever your needs are.
