Premium, reliable care. Insured. 🚭

Pet care experience

Extremely reliable, safe, professional, friendly, and courteous service. I provide overnight service year round. I can provide drop-in visits and daycare during the summer months (May through September). Send your dog to summer camp! They will enjoy a premium experience at a private single-family home with a large, detached climate-controlled office, on a wooded half acre surrounded by forest, in a quiet dog friendly neighborhood. This includes a minimum of 2, 30 minute walks per day, fetch, chase, tug of war, and playing in our 1200 square foot fenced in dog run with a doggy splash pool and mist machine for the hot days. We try to keep your pet’s routine and living arrangements similar to what they are accustomed to at your own residence. This means they are welcome anywhere in our three-bedroom house and will sleep where they normally would at home (crate, couch, floor, dog bed, or our bed). I work from home during the day as a consulting geologist / gis specialist which makes my schedule very flexible and lets me interact with and supervise the animals at all hours of the day. My wife is a PhD candidate and has worked with animals in a professional capacity. During the winter I work a couple evening shifts each week doing sports broadcasting so my schedule is a bit busier. We accept a maximum of four dogs at a time from two households for overnight stays. Though we typically only have one client at a time outside of peak dates (holidays and summer), so your pet will have plenty of attention and exercise. If you would like your pup(s) to be our only guest(s), a surcharge to cover lost revenue from the additional spots will apply. My wife, my daughter, and I currently have one dog, one indoor cat, one outdoor cat, and two free ranging ducks as part of our small family. I have previously had two small dogs in my family and my wife grew up with a house full of cats and dogs (labs). We have lots of experience walking and caring for both dogs and cats, administering medication, and working on behavioral issues. Our current client roster numbers over 30 dogs of all shapes, sizes, ages, and energy levels. Your pup will love playing with our calm but very playful Cedar dog in our fenced in dog run shaded by mature oak and maple trees, though if they need their space, we have a detached climate controlled 400 sq. ft. office to relax in, in addition to our home. We can keep our lovely cat in a separate part of the house if your pet does not get along well with cats. She has become accustomed to meeting new dogs and is very patient and gentle. We are very flexible, understanding, inclusive, and try to keep it simple. We appreciate a text message in advance of your arrival, or if there are any changes to pick up or drop off times. My hours for drop off / pick up and any non-emergency communication are typically 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. Drop offs or pick-ups outside of these hours are not accepted and will need to be done the night prior or the morning after. I will not respond to requests outside of those hours, but please be patient as I will get back to you first thing in the morning. Note: We live in DURHAM. There is an identical address in a nearby city (CH) that will add 20 minutes to your drive. New to Rover? Use code DAVIDC50896 for $20 off your bill at checkout. Please keep in mind Rover takes an additional 20% service fee from my payment portion, in addition to the booking fee they charge you. Bookings within 5 days of drop off will have a 20% last minute surcharge (minimum $20). Holiday rates are charged Friday through Monday for holiday weekends. I don't do weddings.

We have left our energetic dog with David twice now and are so grateful for his care! He sends photos of their walks and adventures and has been so flexible with drop off and pick up (especially when our flight got delayed and she needed to stay an extra night!). We appreciate David’s family welcoming our dog in for the week and look forward to having her stay with them again!

Availability

Schedule One of us is pretty much always at home with the dogs, unless we need to make a quick errand run. We typically wake up around 7:00 am to feed and walk the dogs, then head out to the air-conditioned office with attached dog run to start our day around 8:00. We take hourly play breaks until around 1:00 when we have a lunchtime walk, weather dependent. The workday ends around 5:00 with dinner and another walk tops everything off at sunset. The dogs always get a nighttime pee break and play session right before bedtime.
