Pet care experience
I’m Darcy and I have two PAWfect roommates. Walter is an adult corgi, and Agatha is a blind senior Pekingese mix rescued from PAWS. I’ve care for all kinds of pets since childhood (fish, hermit crabs, bunnies, birds, and even a pet mouse). I truly love and respect all animals and can’t wait to meet your fur babies! 🐶 I’ve trained Walter since he was a puppy and would love to work on tricks/obedience with your dog! We’ve done agility, nosework, rally, and trick dog classes! I fostered Agatha before I adopted her. I am her seeing-eye human and helped her get used to life in a new setting as a blind dog. Watching her grow from a scared, shy pup that didn’t move around a lot to the confident and sassy lady she is today that loves to explore & sniff new settings has been so rewarding! I foster senior dogs with medical needs so I have experience working with dogs that have very particular needs (both medical and temperamental). I have experience sitting and walking all dogs (long and short legs alike). I treat every dog I watch/walk with the same love, affection, patience, and will make up songs about them like I do with my own dogs! I hope Rover can help me meet more doggos in Chicago & help me work harder so I can give my dogs a better life!

Darcy watched guinea pigs and a fish and did an amazing job! She sent updates and pictures of the animals and cared for them as if they were her own. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for someone to take care of small pets. She did way more than I asked for or expected! Would have her come again.

Darcy came over to meet my two cats before her weekend caring for them, and she is clearly good with animals! She took good care of the two of them, sending me many videos to see how they were doing. She left everything neat and tidy. We did not communicate well about timing for the visits, but based on the many stellar reviews she has, this seems not to be the norm for her.

For services in my home, my two pups are very chill, and they mostly nap all day. I have a dog run in the building for easy trips to get exercise and play with doggy friends! Dogs are allowed (and preferred) on the couch and my bed. I have a medium/large crate in my apartment if your dog is more comfortable sleeping in a crate at night. For services in your home, I love to tidy up, and I will happy take out the trash and make sure the space is clean before I leave.

If they have any food allergies since I’ll want to give them some yummy treats (I.e. frozen Kong’s, bully sticks, puzzle toys). For boardings/daycare, if you’d want me to give them a bath in my building’s professional quality dog spa. What kind of activities do they like the best so I can make sure to do what’s fun for them during their stay? (I.e. long walks/runs around museum with all the new smells vs spending more of our time in dog parks meeting up with other pups) How frequently do you want updates? I am a crazy dog mom myself so I’ll normally send one whenever we are doing something fun!
A typical day
We can walk along the lakefront path north to navy pier or south to museum campus! There is a dog park within a 5 minute walk from me as well! I would love to work on training tricks and give them doggy puzzles to help tire them out mentally!

😻 I also love taking care of cats! While I have two dogs of my own, I love cats as well! My corgi has a similar PAWsonality to a cat, so I’ve learned how to play it cool and not over-give affection until I gain your cat’s trust! During cat sittings, I usually change out the food/litter, scatter treats/catnip around the apt, provide playtime (or none at all) depending on what your kitty is comfortable with, administer medications, and also tidy up your apt/house (running the roomba, taking out trash, watering the plants etc.) while you are away. I’ve even walked a cat on a leash before! Can’t wait to meet your pretty kitties!!
