My first dog, Higgins, had epilepsy and his problem created a need within me to care for dogs. I started my 'career' as a dog caretaker in high school when I worked for a veterinarian in Los Angeles for a summer. As the years progressed, I volunteered at multiple animal shelters while working in other careers. Finally, 6 years ago I landed a job at Austin Pets Alive! in Austin, Texas as the Cat Care Specialist. I took care of over 70 cats a day for a full year before moving into the clinic to work as a vet technician for the shelter. After 2.5 years at APA! I moved into a full-time position as Vet Technician at Firehouse Animal Health Center in Austin. Recently my husband and I moved to Long Beach to pursue our dreams! Those dreams require that I be flexible with my days so I’m not looking for a full-time technician job at this time, instead, I’ll take care of your babies! I worked as a dog walker and house sitter for WAG for over a year in 2017 so I'm not new to house sitting - just new to Rover. I have extensive experience with ALL types of dogs and cats and can handle anything that comes my way - from feral to sweet, small to big, sick or healthy. I can perform ANY and ALL at-home medical needs your pet might require including oral medications of all types, administering fluids, diabetic animals and administering insulin, nail trimming and/or grinding and more. Most importantly, I am a FEAR-FREE technician and was trained at one of the top fear-free veterinary clinics in the country. Personally, I have three dogs, one is a rescue from APA!, one is a rescue from Las Vegas, and one is a rescue from Puerto Rico! I tend to pick the ones that no one else wants, my dog Bella has a gimp leg, my dog Jack had only one eye, and Bacon had parvo and twisted bowels that required surgery as a puppy. I like to say that I'm a bit of a dog whisperer in the sense that I have the ability to break through to most dogs quickly. Instantly I'm sitting on the ground with a positive smile and calm demeanor before the dog has even reach my hand and soon find that their cautiousness is gone and kisses, pets, and play develop quickly! I am currently very available, as I'm an actor and make my own schedule, so I can work around your needs and schedule in most cases. I promise that leaving your dog, dogs, and/or cats in my hands will be a great decision, and as you can see from my testimonials other people agree! I am forever joyous about spending time with dogs and make every effort to make them feel special and like the ‘only dog’ in the world when we hang out together. I’m incredibly responsible and will treat your dogs as I would treat my own!
