Pet care experience
I have been regularly pet sitting since 2020. I started watching and walking family friends’ pets during the pandemic, and through Rover and word of mouth my experience with animals of all shapes, sizes, and abilities has multiplied! I always ensure your pets are fed, loved, and feel secure in my care, making special consideration for each pet’s needs based on their personalities. In addition, my family has always had a dog, and through my experience in personal pet care I have learned the value of keeping dogs happy and ensuring they live long, comfortable lives. I am acutely aware of the value of maintaining a dog’s physical health and responding to the cues they share with humans to express how they feel.

Dana has a natural way with dogs. She has worked for us over the summer both dog walking and over nights in our home sitting. Very trustworthy and reliable. Both our dogs love her (especially our boy dog who always brings a her a toy as a greeting). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her a bit. Your dogs will love her too.
Dana is an exceptionally responsible and caring young person. I have known her for more than a decade, and I've watched her interact with her own dog Ally. They play together, and as Ally has aged, Dana has been really great with her: very attentive and helping her with any physical limitations. Dana also dog sits for my former co-workers, who rave about Dana's work. Dana can be always be counted on to do a thorough job.

I am happy to bring dogs to any appropriate parks or socialize them if needed. I will treat dogs to fit their needs - I will play with playful pups, but I’m happy to practice patience with senior dogs who just need someone to make sure they’re safe and okay. It’s very important to me that your animal sees me as someone they can trust - I will always enter their space with respect, patience, and compassion.

I’m always happy to know any particular quirks/anxieties/types of aggression your dog may have. I am comfortable with all breeds, but have the most experience with large to mid-size breeds.
A typical day
I will happily bring your dog to any trails where pets are allowed, most likely places where they must be leashed. I will play with any of their favorite toys, try to keep up with them if they have the zoomies, or just curl up if they’re most comfortable on the couch or simply being by my side.

Availability
I work 100% in person, 9am to 5pm, in Oakland. Depending on how far your home is, I can do a once-daily drop in during lunch time and care for your pets in the mornings and evenings during the week! Weekends are almost always free for all care unless otherwise stated in my availability.
