Dan and Jane watched our 12 w/o retriever from 2/12/-2/15. Overall the experience was positive. Pros- frequent communication in the form of updates and pictures of our puppy. They even took the time for a brief phone call so she could hear us. We were reassured she was taken care of as their own. Cons- We noticed when we picked her up the bedding and blankets on the inside of her crate were wet in several areas. This isn’t unusual as there are built in holders inside the crate for food and water bowls (in the past she has splashed water outside the bowl onto the bedding). However on the way home there was a strong odor of urine emanating from her bedding. Clearly she had voided multiple times inside her crate. Normally she would never do this as she is crate trained and wouldn’t voluntarily void in her own den. Also, that same night we took her home she had diarrhea almost hourly (she barked each time from inside her crate to let us know she needed to go out). We have had her every day prior to the drop off and this has never happened before. The only conclusion is that she ate something she shouldn’t have: food, maybe her own poop. We were reassured by the sitters that she didn’t eat anything but the food we provided. While we can’t say what happened for certain it was very upsetting to learn our puppy whom we love and care for very much spent time in a urine soaked crate and became sick her first night home.

Sukie Bella, my Australian Kelpie and German Shepherd mix, had the opportunity to have Dan and Jane doggie sit and walk her. They were very professional and trustworthy. They easily established rapport with Sukie Bella and were very responsible. 🐶
