Fenced in yard. Loving Environment!

Pet care experience

Great place to let your dogs stay while you get away! We have two dogs, one that lounges around and one that is a little more active. Small fenced in yard lets them run around and hang outside! It is double fenced on two sides of the fence and on the third side it is over 7 ft. high. Safe dead end street in the Mt. Washington neighborhood of Pittsburgh. We are very central to a lot of major road ways. We own our home. We absolutely love dogs! ****After hearing from you the first thing we will need to do is to have a meet and greet. We do not book without meeting beforehand. ****We do not host puppies. We do not have a strict age cut off because we understand dogs mature at different times but in our experience puppies are too excited and overwhelming for our small dog. Allegra, our shih tzu is only 15 pounds. She loves big dogs, is very respectful towards them and she would prefer the same in return. ****Dogs need to be housebroken. No breed specificity. Our home is small and we really do not like to crate. If you need to crate your dog at home then we are probably not the best fit. We will send you an abundance amount of updates because that's what Charlet prefers when we're away. :) We will agree to take dogs from different people at the same time. It can be common for us to host 2-3 dogs at times. We only will do this if we have had a meet and greet with all dogs involved! That is the only way we feel comfortable doing this! We will use our best judgement with this! It is important to us that our home feels like a home and not a kennel(!), which is why we keep the number of dogs in our home to a minimum! We do this in order to provide an abundance of love and attention to each and every pup! Dan and Charlet! Dan grew up in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and also in Ohio. He attended OSU for electrical engineering. He has a M-F daylight job. Charlet grew up in Cranberry Twp and went to an art college in Baltimore (MICA). She is currently in school to become a Physician Assistant. If the Penguins or OSU are on while your dog is with us they will more than likely be catching the game! Dan always has had dogs and loves them. He use to volunteer walking dogs at the Animal Rescue League. Charlet would have 10 dogs if Dan would let her ;) Instead this is a happy medium. We were about to go on vacation and had no one to watch our dogs. Wally, our 35 pound mutt is from the humane society and the idea of using a kennel was suggested. We hated the idea of putting Wally in a kennel. When we bring him for his yearly check up back to the Humane Society he is noticeable stressed. Wally hates cages and solidarity and I was in no way comfortable with a kennel. Rover is a great. Dogs are accustomed to being in a loving home environment and not in a kennel! Our dogs are part of our family and yours will be apart of ours during their stay! My experience administering medication Yes. Allegra has Intervertebral Disc Disease (this is something genetic, not contagious so no worries-it is common in Dachshund and small dog breeds). She had a hemilaminectomy surgery years ago. We've administered a fair share of medication for her. She is amazing these days!!!! You probably would have never know about her surgery without us telling you. We are comfortable with pill and liquid forms.

Dan and Charlet were fantastic when they looked after Loki for a week over Christmas. He had such a great time playing with their two wonderful dogs. Dan and Charlet sent us tons of pictures, which we loved. They even included our pup in family holiday celebrations! Highly, highly recommended!

Could not have been happier with Gus's stay. Charlet and Dan did an amazing job taking care of my dog, who required repeated ear cleanings over the course of his one week stay. I received pictures of a very happy Gus throughout the course of my trip, which I greatly appreciated. This was really a perfect experience, strongly recommended!
