A friend told me about Rover and I got so excited about the potential to help pet owners while playing with dogs, because I was literally asking a friend the other day if it would be weird to go to a dog park sans-dog just to get some of that puppy energy I've been missing. I grew up with dogs, and have almost always had dogs around, but I travel too often to keep one of my own and not feel guilty, so my kitty cat lives with my aunt so she can have consistency and a playmate, and the dog I helped raise from a puppy, my "furry boyfriend" as I called him, passed in 2 years ago. In short, I miss my fur babies! I would love the opportunity to give your dog(s) or cat(s) a little extra love when you're away, and help them be the happiest they can be. Among my friends and family, I'm usually the first person to get asked to house sit or pet sit when someone needs to go out of town. People trust me with their pets because I treat their pets like I treat my own- with as much care and love as I can muster. I've had people whose pets I've watched say their pets are happier and better behaved when they get back from being away, and I'm happier having gotten to be around animals all day! I've taken care of all different sizes and breeds of dogs, and dogs of all ages, from 8 year old chihuahua-min-pin mutts to 3 month old Bernese mountain dogs, to a 12 year old Boxer who acts like a puppy, and a Rottweiler who walked herself (literally, leash on, handle in her mouth). I've also cared for 4 dogs who lived in the same house (with 3 cats), so I can easily handle a horde if you've got one. I've trained a puppy, and grew up with dogs, and I'm one of the only people I know who makes other peoples' dogs sit when I greet them, because I know how hard it is to train a dog, and I reinforce good behavior. I'm the kind of person who crosses the street to pet a dog, and apparently also the kind of person that most dogs just respond very well to. I give off a little of the alpha energy that makes dogs very well-behaved around me and I'm a gentle disciplinarian- it's enough punishment for a dog for you to ignore him/her if they're not behaving how you'd like, because they're pack animals and they just want all the love and attention! (There are of course exceptions to this rule, where a clear "no" or whatever negative command you've chosen are needed). Looking forward to meeting you and your dog and helping you both!
