I am Crystal the Pet Nanny!

Pet care experience

My true focus and passion is in building relationships with my clients and with their pets so that I become like a member of the family. Making breakthroughs and building trust with animals is extremely gratifying to me. I have been working in the veterinary industry on and off since 1996 and I am a current veterinary employee. I spent approximately 5 years working in general practice and currently work at a veterinary ophthalmology specialty practice, but I am working flexible hours there as I try to build my pet nanny clientele. Additionally, I have quite a bit of volunteer experience working with and for animals, as follows: *Arizona Game and Fish Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center: Cleaning Enclosures, Preparing Food, Feeding Animals, Volunteering at Special Events, Specialize in Black-Tailed Prairie Dogs - Specifically Providing Socialization, Enrichment and Exercise *Arizona Animal Welfare League Cattery: Socializing Cats to Prepare Them for Adoption *Arizona Animal Welfare League Clinic: Sterilizing/Wrapping Surgical Instruments, Cleaning Treatment Area/Surgery/Kennel Area, Vaccinating & Caring for Animals *Sierra Club & Wild At Heart: Assisting in Burrowing Owl Relocation and Building Artificial Burrows *Sierra Club: Volunteering at Special Events *Feline Foster Parenting *Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon Spay and Neuter Program: Assisted in Post-Surgical Recovery of Feline Patients

Crystal is reliable and trustworthy. I have used her services for over 4 years and each time she exceeds expectations. My pets love her. I really like the posted pictures of our pets having fun with her when we are away.

Crystal has helped take care of our labs for more than a year. She has been absolutely wonderful in the care and peace of mind she provides. When we are out of town she always sends a full doggie report for the day and usually even includes photos or videos from her visits. She has a fun personality and the dogs just love her. I would highly recommend her.

Information Crystal R. would like to know about your pet

First of all, I would want to know any special needs, preferences or idiosyncrasies about the dog. For example, is the dog on a special diet or is it okay to give treats? If so, is there a particular kind of treat that is preferred or that you would want me to avoid? Is there any kind of special training or any commands you want me to reinforce? Do you have preferences as far as activities to avoid or something special the dog likes to do? Do you have concerns if I want to take the dog on an outing to a dog park (precautions in the car, around other dogs, etc.), dog-friendly patio restaurant, water-play, etc.? Does the dog have any known health concerns I should be aware of? Those are the kinds of things I like to know. I don't really have any breeds that I DON'T like. I've always had an affinity for little bearded dogs and wiry haired terriers, just because I find them adorable, but I believe that all dogs are individuals and like to get to know their personalities on an individual basis, rather than try to put them in a breed-specific box.

A typical day

Since my focus is on building relationships, I really take my cues from the dogs themselves and from information I am able to gain from their owners. This means I make it my business to find out my clients' wants and needs and the favorite activities of their pets to incorporate into our time together. It wouldn't make sense to put a slowing senior dog through the paces of an outdoor agility course in July any more than it would make sense to expect a young, energetic dog to want to lie next to me for long cuddle sessions. I try to have some fun ideas up my sleeve to keep things interesting for each individual pet in my care.
