Responsible, caring, dog-loving sitter available, with over 20 years' experience as a veterinary technician, and 2 years' experience as a dog walker. I love cats too! I'm also open to caring for pocket pets and reptiles. I offer overnight stays in your home as well as drop-in visits. Not only am I able to provide basic care, affection, and exercise, but I can also administer any type of medication, including injections/subcutaneous fluids, and help you with medical treatments recommended by your veterinarian. And of course I am trained to recognize medical problems and emergencies, so you can rest assured that if anything goes wrong while you're away, your pet will be well taken care of! I am certified in Pet First Aid and CPR (re-certified on 9/20/19). *** Please note that I do currently work at a veterinary clinic, so I'm gone for 8+ hours, 4 days a week. I understand that's a dealbreaker for some pets who can't be left alone for that long.

Cowen was a wonderful sitter who took great care of our cats. Our house was left exactly how it was when we departed (maybe even cleaner), and he communicated just the right amount. We felt very safe and comfortable with our pets in his care.
Our high energy GSP and senior cat both had a great time with a Cowen!
Cowen is so responsible and absolutely wonderful with our pooch! From giving him his meds, to taking care of a hurt paw, we know our dog is in great hands. We also trust Cowen with our house while we are away- he is fantastic!
Cowen was a huge help watching our 12 year-old lab over a long weekend. Super attentive and great communication. Our dog was well-taken care of. Would highly recommend.

I try to stick to your pet's familiar routines as much as possible. I'm home a lot when I'm not working, so we can have plenty of downtime or playtime together. I honor the campsite rule in clients' homes - I'll leave it looking the same way I found it (or better)!

Please let me know if your dog is reactive/aggressive towards other dogs, or if they are fearful with certain people or situations. I have a lot of experience with dogs like this, but I need to know as much as possible about their issues and triggers. I love elderly and special needs dogs!
A typical day
I don't drive, so we'll be doing local walks/parks only. If your dog likes a long walk, we can go several miles depending on your dog's energy/stamina. We can play fetch, tug of war, or whatever your dog's favorite game is. I'm very cautious and won't let your dog off leash except in an enclosed dog park.

Availability
I'm currently working full-time, 4 days a week, so I'm not always available for mid-day potty breaks. If your dog needs to go out during the day while I'm working, you'll need to arrange for another walker on those days.
