I will love your dog like my own.

Pet care experience

Hi! I'm Courtney. I have owned dogs of different shapes and sizes all my life and also have years of experience with dog sitting and fostering. I am also on the Wag! app and do dog walking and boarding services through them. My life mission is to save all the puppies who don't have homes. :( I currently own a fun-loving 5 year old beagle/border collie mix named Piper. She loves to run and play with other dogs. As a runner, I am active and energetic. Pair this with a love for dogs and you've got yourself a dog walker/sitter! I will take good care of your furry family member and love them like my own! I wish I could get another dog but don't have the time required to train a puppy. Using apps like Rover allows me to get my doggo cuddles without the long-term commitment! I am very flexible and will follow your care instructions and wishes! If your dog spends time at my home, I only want to be sure he/she is friendly with other dogs and will mesh well with Piper. Thanks for allowing me to spend time with your pup!

Courtney was an awesome dog sitter and my dog loved staying with her. Will 100% use her again in the future.

My pup always has an amazing time with Courtney. She literally starts to go nuts when we approach her building because she loves it there so much. Her and Piper (Courtney’s dog) love each other and I always have such peace of mind when I leave her there, 10/10 would recommend! She’ll love them like one of her own!

Nala is 9 months old and had been cooped up on a long car drive to Milwaukee. Courtney was totally understanding and took her for a long walk as soon as we left. Piper is so cute and the dogs got along great. Lots of pictures and videos let us know how happy our little puppy was! We’ll be back next time we’re in Milwaukee!!!

Courtney provided a very troubling first Rover experience for me. Rover came highly recommended by several trusted friends, and they all indicated to me that what happened with my dog's stay at Courtney's home is not at all what should be expected from a Rover sitter. The positives: 1) Courtney responded quickly to my request for boarding services. (Of course, it's easy to take on responsibility and accept payment. It's apparently much harder to actually fulfill your responsibilities and earn payment.) 2) Courtney sent me 6 photos of my dog looking happy with some toys and on a walk a couple hours after I dropped her off. 3) My dog was returned to me in one piece. (I was not sure this would happen based on the following negatives.) The negatives: 1) Courtney failed to attend the meeting and drop-off at the time SHE chose, letting me know only minutes before the scheduled time. She sent her boyfriend (not on Rover.com, that I can see) instead. A troubling start, but I was hoping it would not be an omen of things to come. 2) Courtney only fed my dog 60% of the food she was supposed to receive (3.5 cups over 2 days instead of the instructed 6 cups) ... or else she fed my dog the wrong food half the time. Courtney gave me no explanation for her inability to follow my feeding instructions until I directly asked after the stay. At that point, she give me the conflicting answer that she fed all the dogs separately, just as I had recommended in my instructions, but that my dog still stole the food of the other dogs (???) and therefore got more than enough food in Courtney's mind. The more likely explanation became clear when Courtney admitted to me that she drove her dog, my dog and another Rover dog to her parents' house when she didn't feel like watching them herself. I am guessing her parents were not given my explicit feeding instructions and had no idea what they needed to do. 4) Courtney did not have a contemporary photo of my dog during a 40-hour span and instead sent a photo taken many hours (or possibly a full day) before. She blamed this on both my dog being a "handful," which caused her to forget until late, and also on Rover.com's inability to transmit videos, even though she actually remembered (contradicting her previous excuse that she forgot) but was stymied by the technology. She has not yet explained why she had no NEW photos of my dog on Saturday. Once again, it is clear that she could not update me with a status or a new photo because the dogs were, in fact, at her parents' house and not with Courtney. 5) Courtney was altogether silent for 28 hours. She later explained that this was only a problem because of MY anxiety and that I "could have asked for an update at any time." I DID ask for an update after 25 silent hours. It took her 3 more hours to send an old photo, probably from the previous day. I disagree that this was a problem of my anxiety and propose that it was actually a problem of Courtney handing my dog and another Rover dog off to her parents and not taking responsibility for them herself. 6) Courtney claimed my dog "ripped up" her living room the first night though "she didn't chew or ruin anything" -- the photo evidence that her boyfriend showed me afterward was of dog toys all over the floor (the HORROR!) (I half expected them to ask for compensation for my dog's terrible toy-playing behavior ... thankfully, they did not do that.) She also later claimed that my dog "attacked [the other Rover dog] unprovoked" even though I witnessed Courtney's own dog, Piper, "attack" my dog unprovoked when we first entered the apartment. By "attack," I mean briefly snarl and snap, which I suspect is the absolute maximum that my dog might have done. More likely, I suspect that since her dog snapped at my dog immediately (getting understandably territorial in her own home), it was probably also her dog Piper that snapped at the new Rover dog right off the bat, and not my dog. But that is only a guess. It is even more likely that she just made up the story after the fact out of whole cloth as a strange roundabout excuse for why she couldn't possibly send an update for so long. 7) As previously mentioned, Courtney admitted in a subsequent message (though I had already guessed) that she dropped my dog, her dog and another Rover dog off at her parents house at some point on Saturday and left them all there with her parents (who I can only presume are not Rover-approved sitters.) I was never told this might happen. It is not mentioned in her profile. I did not meet her parents or hear anything about them being put in charge until I directly asked after the stay if it was, in fact, her mom and boyfriend that were wathcing the dogs. I don't know if they have any experience boarding dogs. (Of course, I have a hard time believing that Courtney, herself, has any experience boarding dogs based on her total inability to complete the services promised -- e.g., feeding per instructions.) I don't know if Courtney gave them my explicit feeding (and other) instructions. I am guessing they were left completely in the dark, and Courtney just abandoned three dogs with them for most of Saturday and maybe Saturday night and Sunday morning, as well. This is a guess, but given that a) Courtney was not present at the drop-off on Friday, b) she had no new photos to share for 40 hours between Friday evening and Sunday morning, c) she messaged me to say she would just be getting home at the EXACT time of pickup and not to come a MINUTE earlier, and d) she admitted that she drove the dogs to her parents house for a "couple hours," it's difficult to picture exactly when Courtney WAS with the dogs. 8) Courtney returned only 2 of the 3 toys that were sent with my dog. This, on its own, wold not be a big deal. But, seriously? At least TRY to cover the tracks of your ineptitude by returning all three toys. I'm guessing this happened because she was not there at drop-off and didn't really even know which toys came with my dog. This experience turned my brief weekend vacation into a very stressful event, wondering why my hired dog sitter couldn't account for my dog for 40 hours, and later finding out that she didn't get fed and wasn't even cared for by my hired sitter for part or most of the time (and that my sitter didn't really think that was a big deal.) I am extremely displeased with this experience. I hope that other Rover.com sitters are much much much more respectful and professional than Courtney W. But I am certainly skeptical about using this site again without a personal recommendation.
