Where a tired dog is a happy dog!
Pet care experience
Hi! I’m a current owner of two freshwater aquariums, an active dog, a special needs cat, and two needy bunnies who love attention! Safety is my absolute priority when it comes to your home and your pet. When I’m with your pet, I take the special precautions necessary to maintain a healthy relationship with the animal and a safe interaction between us and any other animals we may encounter (I am an expert at crossing the street when I see another animal). I am a part time lab technician and animal handler at RFUMS and I am looking to house sit, home drop in, or dog walk for a fair wage. I am well experienced in administering oral medications and inhaled medications to dogs and cats. More importantly, I learn fast and pay extreme detail to attention. I follow instructions as written / told and I do not skimp on giving the extra care that your pet deserves. I believe in positive reinforcement in terms of training and fostering relationships with animals. This belief comes from the time I’ve spent at Lake Forest College studying neuroscience and psychology. My personal interest is behavioral neuroscience, so I paid extra attention to the reward and attention concepts in class. For example, if I am walking your dog and we suddenly come across a squirrel, I will use my voice to call the dogs name and make excited noises - this will bring the dogs attention to me and allow us to easily walk past the squirrel. I am also available to care for exotic animals (i.e. rabbits, reptiles, fish, birds, and other small pets).
Reviews
WOW! Look no further for your pet care needs! Courtney is outstanding, professional, and goes above and beyond in all aspects! We needed a dog sitter on short notice due to a death in the family and Courtney was available to come meet our pets and start sitting right away. When she met our 2 dogs (who are both anxious around strangers) she put them at ease right away by getting on their level and giving the prompts and treats. While we were gone she gave them outstanding care sent us updates several times a day. She took them for walks and even leash trained our male dog that constantly pulls. She spent almost all day with them while we were gone and after we came back the dogs even went looking for her in the guest rooms, which told us how much they liked her! She took care of our house while we were gone also, our mail got taken in and our trash taken out. She will without a doubt be my go to for any pet care needs in the future. I cannot recommend her strongly enough!!!
Owning a very nervous dog can make leaving town difficult and stressful for both myself and my dog. However, Courtney has made this process very easy. While taking her time and reading my dog's behavior, she was able to gain trust quickly. When my dog sees Courtney, she gets excited and I know that she is comfortable and in good hands. She is great with animals of all kinds and all behaviors, fulfilling not only their basic needs, but making sure they are having fun and staying comfortable as well.

Information Courtney S. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know everything I can that is pertinent to the the pet’s safety, my safety, and others safety. This includes history of leash aggression, sensitivity to certain types of people or animals, allergies, medications, or other special considerations. I do not have a breed preference because all dogs and cats are amazing! Breed is only important for the dogs genetic health, and I’m not a veterinarian. I also like to know commands that the pet knows, if/when I can give them treats, where they like to be touched, and where they don’t like to be touched. I also like to know of their general activity level so I know if we need to burn more calories or not.
A typical day
Walks can be around the neighborhood if preferred. I know of several trails that are great for dog walking. At home, my dog and I hike several times and enjoy going to the dog park. I also have a personal car to transport to and from walk spots and a dog hamper in the car to protect the back seats.
