Animal Science Grad- Animal Lover

Pet care experience

I have worked in veterinary clinics and am comfortable with dogs of all sizes and needs. I currently have a Border Collie and great pyrenese of my own. I graduated with my B.S. in Animal Science in 2017 and am working full time as a critical care RN. I started dog walking and sitting while in nursing school to help pay the bills and allow flexibility in my schedule. T The days I work do rotate and are generally 12 hour shifts. My family has owned dogs, and a variety of other animals, my entire life. I have over 22 years of experience with dogs aging from 8 weeks to 16 years. The size of dogs I have worked with has varied from less than 4 pounds to 120+ pounds. Some of these dogs needing medications, syringe feeding, and more. I also have experience with exotic animals if you are going out of town and have more than just a dog. I have experience helping work with dogs of all activity levels as well. My personal dogs require at least an hour of physical activity and mental stimulation a day. I have experience administering medications to both dogs, cats, and exotic animals. When watching your dog I will make sure they get lots of love and as much exercise as they need.

Safety, trust & environment

I take care of your pet as I would my own. They get exercise to their ability and I don't push dogs farther than they want to go. I understand that every pet is different and will require different needs.

Information Courtney S. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences and have worked with small breeds and large. Ranging from working dogs such as Border Collies, Malamutes, Labs, Golden retrievers and German Shepherds to dachshunds and chihuahuas. I have at least minimal experience with a wide variety of breeds. When I dog sit I prefer to know if the dog I am sitting is dog friendly or if there are any behavioral problems. I also like to know if there are any food allergies or medical concerns. I have worked with my own dogs who have epilepsy and food allergies so I understand how serious knowing about conditions before sitting can be.

A typical day

A typical walk or visit starts by going into the house and either getting the least on or getting the dogs outside. On walks I try to work on leash manners and me tally stimulate your dog while also physically exercising then. Outside on drop in visits I will pet your dog, throw a ball or play in the yard depending on what your pet wants.
