Experienced Dog Lover - Work @ Home

Pet care experience

Hi there! I live in a dog friendly community (just 4 minutes from Disney and less than 15 from Sea World, Universal, Convention Center, I Drive, etc.) featuring plenty of green space to take walks through! If you are staying at a Disney hotel, I am happy to offer FREE drop off and pick up of your pet upon arrival. My boyfriend and I rescued a deaf 2 year old mini-Aussie, and we have put a lot of time and effort into learning about dog behavior training and animal psychology to better serve her. We are happy to provide overnight pet sitting for you while you are out of town, or daily pet sitting if you want to visit the theme parks/city for the day while leaving your pup in the best possible care. I work from home, so your pup will have constant love and attention from me, and a companion in our dog Spec. We believe in going on long walks, exploring all the sights and smells of the dog park, and resting up on our favorite pillow or dog bed. I have been an animal owner my entire life, working with and owning horses, chinchillas, hamsters, fish, and dogs. Prior to adopting our mini-Aussie, I have owned 2 Great Pyrenees, 2 Chinese Cresteds, 4 Papillions, a Teacup Papillion, and several other pups earlier in life. I feel confident working with different breeds and temperaments, and am happy to provide as much or as little exercise and attention as your dog needs to thrive. I am happy to meet with you/allow you to see our space before your pup's overnight stay, and can provide references upon request. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed knowing that your pup is in good hands! While you are away, we can provide phone, email, and text communication (as much or as little as you want!) to make sure you know your pup is safe and happy. About this sitter: We moved to Florida from New York/Pennsylvania after working for and studying at Penn State University. I love to visit Disney, try out new cuisines, and play with my favorite girl Spec (our deaf mini-aussie). I love the Florida weather and try to spend as much time as possible outside playing in the sunshine! I run a business from home and spend each afternoon walking dogs in the neighborhood or taking Spec on a run/bike ride. Why I love dog sitting I have been working with dogs (and other animals) my entire life! I grew up with trained therapy dogs and taught therapeutic (horseback) riding to student with physical and emotional disabilities. My mother and I visited the VA and local nursing homes with therapy dogs, and I became quite familiar with daily life with pets. I am always working to learn more by reading training books, watching Ceasar Milan, and taking training classes. Meet my pets Spec - 2 year old mini Australian Shepherd About my yard We live in a townhouse with a (small) fenced in backyard. Our new development has plenty of walking space along with a bike trail and lots of grass! We love going for walks and runs - whatever your pup likes! My experience administering medication I took Pharmacy Technician and Emergency Medical Technician courses and grew up in a medical household (father was a doctor) so I feel comfortable around medicine. I have administered shots and medications to horses and dogs over the past 20 years.

Courtney is the sweetest! This is my first time using the app so I didn't know what to expect. I was a little hesitant, but as soon as Sawyer (my pup) and I met Courtney, we loved her! She took a care of Sawyer beautifully, it shows that she cares in how quick she learned my pup's personality. She also sent many cute photos and updates! I trust her and I will definitely call her again the next time I'm out of town.

Courtney took amazing care of my dog, Mila, while we were away for 5 days. She had great instincts with Mila and cared for her accordingly. I love that her apartment complex has a dog park. She took Mila there and played fetch with her. I was a little hesitant to leave Mila with someone that I did not know, but she did a "meet and greet" with us and I felt a high level of trust right away. Courtney kept us updated while we were away by sending pictures and letting us know how Mila was doing. I would definitely use her again and recommend her to others!

There is nothing more important in this life than a beating heart. Whether the heart belongs to a human or an animal, those that we love and hold dear are of most value. They are our most prized possessions. I have trusted Courtney with my most prized possessions, both my children and my pets, many times in the 4 years that I have known her. Courtney has a caring heart and a way with all that she meets. Courtney is not your average “pet sitter.” She has taken classes in dog training and has actively cared for the pets around her, whether it be her parents dogs or friends’ and neighbors’ animals, for the majority of her life. She also has a vast amount of experience when it comes to horses. I trusted my dog to Courtney on one of the most important days of my life, my wedding day. Courtney came to my home, overnight, and cared for my dog, Hope. Hope was well fed, played with and happy when I next saw her. Anyone who can provide that level of care for an overwhelmed bride is nothing less than exceptional. I have also entrusted my children to her and have had the same level of satisfaction. If, indeed, I am in a position to need a pet sitter, Courtney will be my first choice again and again!

"Spec" (Speckles) was fortunate to be rescued by Courtney the beginning of January 2014. Courtney religiously works with Spec in the local dog park. Spec -although deaf- now works on hand signals, heels perfectly and continues to work on anxiety issues when left alone. Courtney's history of working with animals has been documented with her previous work with horses -teaching riding lessons as well as working theraputically (horse/child)at New Horizons Horse Farm. Courtney has taken dog training classes. Courtney comes from a family that raises and trains certified therapy dogs that work at the VA. Courtney has an extensive history of caring for children and is sought after for her nurturing ways and ability to motivate children. She is not the normal babysitter that is there only for the pay, she takes activities and learning activities to the children. So her nurturing abilities carry through to animals. Finally Courtney has chosen to work from home to devote her time to Spec. She would offer quality care to your dog plus the social advantages that would be delivered to Spec while having a "dog friend" are very very valuable.

Information Courtney C. would like to know about your pet

I would love to get to know your dog and the training/correction methods you utilize before dog sitting so your dog can be comfortable enjoying his or her stay at my home. I am comfortable using hand signals, vocal cues, and other methods - whatever works best for your pet!

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks Our newly built community features a beautiful lake with a fountain that we always walk around. We also have the option of walking or running down the busier main road (if your dog likes socialization) or one of the quieter backstreets that connect directly to our community. We will also visit the dog park for some off leash time (if your pup likes to roam free). Your dog's sleeping arrangement As an owner of a deaf dog who always wants to be within eyesight of me, I know that each dog's preference for where they sleep is deeply personal. I am happy to keep your dogs favorite pillow, dog bed, crate, or blanket in my bedroom if it makes them happy! We will welcome your pup wherever they will have the most restful sleep. Time I'll spend with your dog I will spend the entire day with your pup! I work from home and love to get away from the computer and grab some fresh air with the pups! Our entire community is pet friendly, so there is plenty of space to go for walks, play in the parks, practice agility, etc, and have fun!
