Dogs are a girl's best friend

Pet care experience

My experience caring for dogs started in early childhood. Building a family bond and loving relationships with our canine companions taught me a lot about respect and responsibility as a child. As an adult, I’ve continued to build my passion for dogs by becoming a Stray Rescue dog-walker and foster parent, as well as serving on local dog park committees. As the mom of a hundred pound rescue, I understand the importance of communication and mutual respect required to a build strong bonds with all (especially large) dogs. I know that a tired dog is a happy dog and love to give them the satisfaction of long walks, games of fetch, or trips to the dog park. Because my sweet boy has experienced a long and eventful life, I’ve developed a keen eye for possible issues and learned a few tricks to ease their pain (like treating dry paws/nose with utter balm, identifying ear infection symptoms and administering drops, and soothing allergic rashes with gold bond powder). We’ve even managed ACL surgery and the subsequent rehabilitation. As a foster mom, I have experience with potty-training, teaching general manners, and cuddling. There’s nothing more heartwarming than teaching an old (or young) dog a new trick and celebrating with a treat! We prefer frozen carrots because they’re both healthy and help clean teeth. However, sometimes a little dip in some natural peanut butter helps sweeten the reward. I look forward to spending time with new four-legged friends and helping them enjoy life to its fullest! I’m work normal business hours in the Central West End, making this area the ideal morning, lunch, and early evening visits/walks location. I live in the Soulard/Benton Park area, where I would love to offer weekend visits/walks. Because my boy is lucky enough to have the most loving and eager grandparents, weekday/weekend house sitting within a 10 mile radius is also a welcome option for our family.

Information Courtney A. would like to know about your pet

Knowing the following will allow me to give your dog the best care: - your dog's routine and any special needs - your dog's social skills: is she/he ok with other dogs, cats, strangers in hats, etc - your preferences related to food (meal time and type of treats) as well as space (allowed on furniture/bed, etc) - your dog's optimal duration of walks or exercise

A typical day

I hope to take dogs on long walks in spaces they enjoy most, whether that’s through a café-lined street or a trail in Castlewood Park. I also enjoy snuggling in for a good nap afterwards! While house-sitting, I’m happy to manage household necessities, such as receiving mail/packages, watering indoor plants, maintaining general house-hold tidiness while the client is out, and periodically checking in with the client.
