Animal lover with flexible schedule

Pet care experience

I've had dogs for much of my life (>20 years of caring for my own pooches) and have provided almost 250 dog walks/sitting services with a 5-star average rating through another platform (happy to share that info). I adore dogs and will treat yours like my own, ensuring they are always safe and happy, and will provide you with detailed updates about their time with me. If you have other pets that need care as well, totally fine! I've have experience with most kinds of animals (cats, birds, freshwater fish, invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles). Being the animal lover that I am, I am a wildlife biologist with a master's degree under my belt and nearing completion of my wildlife conservation PhD. I have a fairly flexible schedule (other than work as a teaching assistant during the academic year, I mostly work from home). I'm happy to develop an ongoing walking/drop-in schedule or look after your pups for the short-term if you need to be away from home for a bit. I look forward to meeting you and-- even more importantly-- your beloved dogs!

Corrie is a wonderful, responsible, caring pet sitter! We have used her several times to care for our two cats and we even use her as a babysitter for our son. She is very caring and patient. Our kitties are rather timid, but they trust Corrie. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for pet sitter or dog walker!

Safety, trust & environment

Safety comes first for me-- I will be sure to use the harness/leash you've provided, and while I have experience with a variety of harness styles, I'll check in with you if I am unclear how to use it safely and securely. I always appreciate knowing if your pup has any particular triggers (other dogs, squirrels, strangers, etc.) that may get them result in them being extra excited or agitated during a walk, but am also experienced in recognizing dog body language and taking steps to help pups remain under control even when encountering an unexpected situation. After a walk, I will ensure your pup has a chance to hydrate/cool down and is settled comfortably back in your home. I always ensure that your fur-baby is safely inside and double-check that your home is properly locked/secured when I depart.

Information Corrie N. would like to know about your pet

I'm happy to work with any breed of dog-- I've safely handled every sort from tiny chihuahuas to extra large, strong breeds (e.g., Dobermans, Bernese Mountain Dogs, St. Bernards)! If your pup is nervous around strangers, I'm happy to meet ahead of time to make sure everyone is comfortable, or to book shorter sittings so you can know that everything will go smoothly if you need to be away for longer periods. (I've walked pups who were described as shy or fearful of new people, with great success, and have also worked with very timid/fearful newly-adopted pups who were still very much in the early stages of building up their confidence.) If your dog has experienced trauma or is working on training, I'm happy to work with them on those things during our walks or visits. Multiple-dog families welcome.

A typical day

I love to play with pups! I'd be delighted to spend time in your home/yard playing fetch or tug with your active dog. When out on walks, we'll be sure to pause so your dog can investigate interesting smells, get your pup some good exercise, and work on our walking manners if that's something you're working on with your pup.

I'm currently a pet mom to two young tabby cats, and while people may say cats are very independent, these boys are quite insistent on ruling my life! 😄 I meet their daily expectations of when they expect to be served up wet food, when one requests a walk (on harness/leash) each evening, and when the other insists that I sit on the floor every evening to give him one-on-one attention while he runs on his exercise wheel. I understand how important it is to meet pets' needs every day, not only in terms of their basic needs (food/water, potty needs, etc.) but also giving them sufficient attention and enrichment to keep them happy and thriving.
