The Star Sitter program highlights responsive sitters who deliver highly rated care and have a history of listing accurate availability and preferences, making it easier for pet parents to find the best care for their pets.

Pet care experience

***AWAY 4/19-4/28*** Please read through my profile (there is more detailed info below the Reviews) before reaching out, as I have included information regarding services, hours, service areas, and more to help you decide if I'm the right fit for you and your pet(s). Sending requests without making sure I offer what you need wastes your time as well as mine, limits my ability to respond to other requests, and negatively impacts my booking score on Rover. * If you find another sitter to care for your pets after sending me a care request, please let me know so I can archive your request and make my schedule available for other clients once again! Pending requests do not guarantee a booking but they do hold space on my availability calendar. :) * I try to keep my availability calendar up-to-date, but it is not always accurate due to an imperfect algorithm and last minute changes/cancellations. The best way to check my availability is by sending me one request with a message including your pets' needs and desired timeframes (start & end times, maximum hours between potty breaks, dedicated meal/med times, etc.) and I will get back to you within 24-48 hours, depending on the day of the week and my schedule that day. I prioritize communications with my regular clients beginning with those whose pets I am currently working with and then those I will be working with the soonest, so it may take some time for me to check my schedule and respond to new requests. For safety reasons, I cannot respond to texts or calls while I am driving or actively walking dogs, so I can only respond to emergent and time-sensitive messages about once an hour between 8AM-8PM during the week. If you reach out to me on one of my BLACKOUT dates I will get back to you on my next non-BLACKOUT day. Pet sitters need time off and unplugged days, too! Especially during peak travel times, holidays, and the winter season, I recommend looking into lining up other pet care options such as neighbors, nearby family or friends, and/or a local back-up sitter or two whenever possible. When Seattle gets inclement weather such as heavy snowfall, it's essential to have a back-up plan. I do my best to keep every appointment despite the weather, but I can get snowed in the same as everyone else. Please consider any local back-up options you may have and keep their contact info handy in case of an emergency. It can take a village to raise our furry children! **NOTICE FOR ALL CLIENTS** Starting on January 1st, 2024 I will be increasing my rates for all services by 20% to cover the fees Rover keeps so I can offset inflation and the rising costs of gas, food, and living in Seattle. I have refrained from raising my base rates throughout the Covid-19 pandemic but ultimately must do so now in order to stay in business and stay in town. I understand this may be an inconvenience for some of my clients but I hope to continue to live in Ballard and provide comprehensive care for dogs, cats, and other pets across town for many years to come. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the price quoted by Rover and we can work through it together. ABOUT ME I have been living with and caring for animals my entire life. As a child I helped my single mom bring countless different pets into our home to foster and adopt. Over the years I was exposed to a variety of breeds and sizes, and I learned proper animal handling and training at an early age. Since then I've fostered, owned, and trained several of my own pets, and plan to continue to do so for the rest of my days on this earth. One day I hope to open a rescue ranch and network where I can rehabilitate, foster and adopt a variety of animals including dogs and horses with a focus on disabled animals and restricted breeds, so I'm learning as much as I can along the way. I currently have a senior cat who takes a few medications each day, so I schedule my work with clients' pets around her med timetables. HOW I GOT STARTED As a recent college graduate lacking adequate resources to own my own dog, I joined Rover in 2018 to get in the doggy facetime I craved. I thought this work would be a mere stepping stone before moving on to a bigger career, but in no time at all I fell in love with my furry clients! In addition to working through Rover for the past 5 years, I frequently volunteer at my local shelter and I still foster whenever I can. Because of this, I have a multitude of experiences with animals who have special physical, mental, and emotional needs. I have worked with blind, deaf, diabetic, and epileptic animals, and dealt with separation anxiety, leashed reactivity, severe aggression, neurological and eating disorders, hospice care, and most things in between. I have housed and rescued one-eyed cats and I've even walked a few tri-pawds and have a wheelchair doggo in my pack. My partner and I recently adopted a bonded pair of cats and often board others in our home. * As my client list has grown over the past few years, I often get more requests than I can accept and try to refer them to my mom, Shayla, whenever I can. She is the person who introduced me to Rover, the reason I know and love animals as much as I do and is a great back up if I'm fully booked or unavailable! She lives in Queen Anne, has a less rigid schedule than I and can travel further than I can, so feel free to reach out if you think she may be a better fit for you and your pets and I can guide you to her Rover profile. * SERVICE AREAS I currently only offer Walks, Drop-In Visits, and House Sitting in the following neighborhoods: Ballard, West Woodland, Phinney Ridge, Fremont, Greenwood, Loyal Heights, Golden Gardens Boarding/Doggy Day Care Pick-ups/Drop-offs in the following neighborhoods: Ballard, West Woodland, Phinney Ridge, Fremont, Wallingford & Greenlake, Greenwood, Loyal Heights, Golden Gardens *My mom Shayla currently offers Drop-In Visits and Housesitting in the following neighborhoods: Fremont, Phinney Ridge, Ballard, Magnolia, Interbay, Queen Anne, Westlake, South Lake Union, Belltown & more!

I have used Coral’s services in the past and had a better experience. This visit was more stressful. Although aware that Coral had another pet sitting job and that she would be unable to stay with my pet, her visits seemed brief and rushed. More stressful was that she did not seem to be following the timing of feeds and visits as laid out on my pet’s care plan. She was occasionally up to 2.5 hours late which led to my pet having an accident inside. My pet is fine, so all is well that ends well. However, it made my time away less enjoyable due to the worrying and feeling like I needed to micro-manage.

WHY I'M HERE As someone who has personally owned and cared for Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Shepards, Labradors, and many other breeds, I know that every dog is an individual with a unique personality, a kind heart, and a willingness to learn. I will never shy away from a dog based on breed or appearance, and I try to prioritize dogs that might be passed on by other walkers/sitters when I can. No animal is too big, small, loud, boisterous or timid for me to love! That being said, please be honest about any reactivity, aggression, and/or bite history your pets may have so I can take precautions and keep everyone safe. OTHER ANIMALS Beyond dogs and cats, I have experience caring for: caged animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and small rodents; reptiles such as turtles, snakes, lizards, and bearded dragons; fowl such as roosters, chickens, ducks, and turkeys; caged birds such as parrots, cockatoos, cockatiels, and finches; and freshwater, saltwater, and outdoor pond fish and aquatic animals. One of my favorite clients is a tortoise named Zohar! I'm happy to care for any special pets you may have at the additional dog or cat rate (per cage/pen as applicable) depending on their level of care and my availability, upon request. Send me a message with your special pets and their needs and we can come up with a personalized care plan and quote!

Information Coral Makenzi B. would like to know about your pet

PET NEEDS Booking requests should include the age, weight, breed, spay/neuter and vaccination status, number of meals per day and any Special Needs of all pets requiring care. Booking requests for dogs should also include the number of walks/potty breaks per day as well as any necessary information regarding our time outside (leash training, leash reactiveness/aggression, dog/animal aggression, escape artists, potentially dangerous tendencies, possible triggers etc.) SPECIAL NEEDS Before the stay, I need to know of any allergies/sensitivities, current medical issues, treatments or medications, chronic or recent injuries/illnesses, recent or major past surgeries, and potentially harmful tendencies. When it comes to this, I don't believe there is such a thing as too much information. Please let me know of any and all concerns you think could possibly come up during the stay so I can be prepared to identify and handle them, just in case. I want to spoil your fur-babies in the safest way possible! ITINERARY Additionally, I'll need to know what timeframe(s) my services would be needed so I can check my calendar and plan my visit(s) or stay accordingly. This includes your estimated departure and arrival times, as well as how soon/late your pets will need walks/potty breaks, meals, medications, and attention, and any other timed or time-sensitive details. Because I do this work full time, I am not a stay-at-home sitter and instead schedule multiple visits throughout the day with your pets depending on their needs. ADDITIONAL REQUESTS • Sitting typically begins around dinnertime (4-5PM) on the first day and ends around breakfast time (7-8AM) on the last day. If you will be leaving town early in the day and/or returning home late in the evening and your pets will need care earlier on the first day or later on the last day, we may need to schedule additional Drop-In Visits ahead of time, pending my availability. • If I will be Sitting your dog(s) and you'd like them to join our pack for Doggy Day Care during the week (TUE-THU), we will need to schedule Day Care ahead of time, pending my availability. PERSONAL PREFERENCES I loved my pit bull more than life itself, so I don't have any breed preferences as I don't subscribe to the idea of "dangerous" or "viscious" breeds. I strongly believe that all dogs are good at heart, and often better than most humans. That being said, I do have a soft spot for rotties, pitties, bully breeds, shepherds, huskies, wolfdogs, and mutts! I only ask that pet owners are honest about their pet(s)' bite (or unknown) histories so I can take necessary precautions if need be. I love to spoil my doggy and kitty guests, so their first stay with me includes a new toy and treat from All The Best. Please let me know if there are any toys or treats they cannot or should not have (or those that require strict supervision) so I can find something that works for them! Stays during major holidays will also include a special holiday treat and/or toy, if allowed. **** I wish this went without saying, but it still needs to be said and heard. I will never discriminate against a pet or pet parent based on their age, size, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, gender identity/presentation, religion, social class or ability. I myself am LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent, and have clients ranging across just about every spectrum. You and your pets are safe and welcome here. ❤ Please be kind! *****

A typical day

WALKS (for dogs): If your dog needs a short or long walk during the middle of the day I'm happy to bring our pack to walk with them. All of the dogs that join me for Roving Doggy Day Care (Roving Day Care Dogs) are well socialized with other dogs and enjoy their daily/weekly/monthly social visits. If your dog enjoys the company of other dogs and can walk well with others on a leash for at least 20 minutes, we'd love to come meet them! * Due to my morning and evening Drop In Visits, I am unable to offer Walks outside of Walking Hours. DROP-IN VISITS (for dogs & cats): If your pets are okay spending the day and night on their own, I can drop by either in the mornings, evenings, or both for walks/potty breaks, meals, medications, playtime, etc. I may be able to schedule a midday Walk for dogs each day as well, depending on my availability. * Due to my Roving Doggy Day Care and Walking schedules, I am unable to offer Drop In Visits during the middle of the day. ROVING DOGGY DAY CARE (for dogs): If your dogs enjoy walks, car rides, and the company of other dogs they can join our Roving Doggy Day Care pack! Roving Doggy Day Care is an on-the-go experience that includes a late morning Pick-up from your home, multiple Walks with the pack throughout midday, several short drives around NW Seattle between Walks, and an early evening Drop-off at the end of our day. If you're not home for Pick-up/Drop-off I'm happy to feed and/or kennel them, if necessary. Our small pack is like a little family, and all of the dogs have known me and each other for at least several months, if not years. They can get overly excited when meeting a new dog, but they are quick to welcome them into the group and great at matching personality styles and energy levels. We have big, small, young, old, fast and slow dogs in our pack! We do not currently have any pack members younger than 1 year old, and all dogs we ride, walk, and play with are altered, fully vaccinated, and have current flea, tick & heartworm protection. These precautions are a must for all dogs we interact with to keep everyone healthy and safe. I always meet potential new Day Care Dogs first and start with a one-on-one walk with myself, and then a co-walk or two with the pack before scheduling their first full day of Roving Doggy Day Care. I do initial doggy introductions one-on-one outside on neutral territory away from food/toys. In the off chance a Day Care dog doesn't vibe with a Walking dog or is too tired to walk with us, they are more than welcome to sit it out in the car and join us on the next Walk. I always crack windows and have portable water bowls available in the car, and I don't offer Roving Doggy Day Care on days under 30°or over 90°to avoid frostbite/burned paws and hypothermia/heat stroke. Safety is my utmost priority! If we have access to a fully fenced yard I may opt for an off-leash playdate instead of a traditional walk, since it offers more mental and physical stimulation for all dogs involved and is typically a safer experience. If we have a cancellation or a gap in our Walking schedule, we sometimes stop by a dog park (either Greenlake or Golden Gardens) to give the dogs a chance to meet some new friends, or by my house to visit and play with my kitty. Dogs must have current flea & tick protection and be fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and leash trained in order to join us for Roving Doggy Day Care. I reccomend a sturdy harness with both a front clip and a back clip option for leash walking and car seatbelts, respectively. (Small dogs that can sit on the floor in a pet bed don't require a harness as long as they have an escape-proof collar for Walks.) I do not recommend gentle leaders, muzzles, or retractable leashes for co-walks because they can lead to discomfort and anxiety when walking with the pack (although they can be great tools for solo Walks). I use my own double leashes for our co-walks so I don't have a preference on what kind of leash you provide, so long as I have one to use to and from my car at Pick-up and Drop-off. * Due to my Walking schedule, I am unable to offer Pick-ups or Drop-offs during the middle of the day. ** Because of my morning and evening Drop In Visits, I am unable to offer Pick-ups earlier than 11AM or Drop-offs later than 3PM. *** I cannot accept Pick-ups or Drop-offs at my home for Roving Doggy Day Care. HOUSE SITTING (for dogs, cats & other animals): Pups that I sit can expect a similar experience to their typical routine, plus some additional spoiling. I will follow their feeding and walking schedules as closely as possible, as well as any other time-sensitive routines. I am also happy to take care of any other pets you may have while I'm there upon request. While staying in your home I will respect it as if it were my own and leave it cleaner than I found it. I'll bring in the mail and any packages delivered during my stay, take out the garbage cans on the appropriate day (just tell me which day), and water the plants according to your schedule (if applicable). I can also bathe/groom pets upon request for an additional fee pending availability. If there is anything else you need me to do for you while you're away, please don't hesitate to ask! * Since I have Walks and Drop In Visits throughout the day, I won't be at your home during that time. Dogs that I sit will be at home alone all day during the week, unless they join me for Roving Doggy Day Care. If they are not a good fit for Roving Doggy Day Care I can arrange a midday potty break for them, and I may be able to schedule a midday Walk instead depending on my availability.
