Exceptional care in my home!

Pet care experience

Hi! My name is Connie. I have been a dog lover since I was little, when a sweet dog 'Ding Ding' entered my life! When your dog stays with me he or she will be spoiled and well taken care of. My goal is to make sure that your beloved dog feels as if he or she is at home; comfortable, secure and safe. I live in a very dog friendly community with plenty of grassy areas especially for our four legged family members! I would like to host 1 dog a time in order to make sure your dog receive full attention and exceptional care. My standard rate is for small dogs. I have an empty, dedicated 'doggy' room ready for my visitors for playtime. This is a great space for them to play with me and their favorite toys and there is even a doggy-couch for them to get comfortable. I cannot wait to spend time with your pup! I would like to take the dogs on at least two outdoor walks a day. We can venture around my neighborhood, or to the beautiful local park.

Connie has a very nice home close to parks, and my dog Jaime was walked a few times during the stay. Jamie doesn't like wood floors because it was slippery for him, and Connie put a small rug down so he can walk around the house. Connie is was very nice to my dog and I will definitely use her again for my dog's next stay.

I could write a much longer review, but I will attempt to stick to the point. We utilize Rover.com frequently, a wonderful reliable service. Our regular dog sitters were not available for this particular short vacation our family scheduled. We have never had any issues UNTIL we had Connie and her husband care for our dog between Christmas and New Years for a few days. Connie and her husband appear to be lovely people, however, they are clearly inexperienced. #1 She charges an unadvertised "holiday" rate that few people on Rover.com do. She did not disclose this to me verbally upon our meet and greet, and her holiday rate of $45 was not advertised on her page...she "advertised" $35/night. I assure you, I would have never contacted her at the rate of $45/night because the majority of dog sitters charge much less. I did not "discover" her higher rate until it came time to pay her online after I got home from the meet and greet, and this is what she had billed. I felt this was sneaky and dishonest, I questioned it, but she was adamant about "having" to charge that rate because of the holidays. I researched her Rover.com page even more to find where she has that in writing, and after a couple online steps, I finally discovered her hidden list of multiple dates where she charges the holiday rate. It was not clearly advertised. I felt at this point that clearly she did this for the money, not because she loves to care for pets. But, unfortunately, it was too late to find someone else, so we went with her. #2. I explained to her at the meet and greet, and on the drop off day, that we weren't sure exactly what time we'd be able to pick our dog up upon our return, but because we were traveling up the coast, it would probably be around 9 or 10 pm/late evening. She acknowledged this, and stated that that would be fine. She requested we let her know when we are on our way traveling back to San Diego. I agreed, and we left our dog with her. Not once did she state there would be any extra fees, nor did she inform me of the "Rover" late pickup policy. We've never had any issues about pickup times with our other dog sitters on Rover.com. So needless to say, when we were headed back down the coast, I informed her we were on our way, traffic was horrible, and that we'd be picking our dog up at 10pm. In response, Connie informed me that she was VERY surprised we'd be so late, and that she would be forced to charge us another night's stay if we picked her up that late. She was argumentative, and denied ever agreeing to that upon meet and greet AND drop off day. We felt this was very rude, and inappropriate behavior, and at that point we were forced to cancel all of our plans for that evening, and immediately went to pick our dog up from her house. She had no remorse for the fact that she caused us to cancel our plans, nor did she apologize for her abrupt behavior. She is definitely not flexible with her time, and it is my impression that she doesn't really enjoy watching pets. She couldn't wait to get "rid" of our dog. (by the way, our dog is the easiest and sweetest dog ever to care for). She and her husband were quick to hand me the written Rover.com policy upon my arrival. #3. There is a difference between those who watch your pet because they love animals, and those who do it for the money. Clearly, she does it for the money, and we definitely will NOT be a returning customer, nor will we refer her to anyone we know. With more experience, she and her husband may someday learn that they can't treat their customers that way.

This was the first time Marley has been left with someone other than family. Connie was great! She was very caring and gentle with Marley and he warmed up to her immediately. I would definitely use her again.

Connie is a great sitter, she was very accommodating, caring and responsible. This was the first time Oliver had stayed over with a sitter, and both of us were nervous! Meeting Connie put me at ease, and Oliver had a great time with her. Oliver has strict diet restrictions, Connie took care to make sure he followed them. Thanks, Connie!

A typical day

I am home full time, so your dog will get my undivided attention! I have spacious room ready for dogs to stay and play. I also plan to take your dog on outdoor walks and for potty breaks every 2 hours. The rest of time I will stay with them indoors, either in the playroom or in the living room. They can also join me whilst I do household chores. I can promise you I will love your dog just how you love them, give them all my attention when I am with them, and make them feel they are special. Your dog will sleep in our home as our house guest. We can discuss the best way to make him/her feel right at home, and feel free to bring along his/her favorite bed, blanket or toy so he/she gets a good night’s sleep.
