Love, Playtime, Yard for One Dog
Pet care experience
My family and I love having dogs around but are too heartbroken over losing our last dog that we don't want to commit to another one yet. Before we pick up another pup of our own, we’re very happy to provide love and care to pups that are in need. We want to offer a safe and loving place to stay for dogs who need to be in a one-dog home. We know how difficult it can be to find that, since that's what our last dog needed, so we’re here to help make sure your pup is as happy as can be. I’ve always grown up around dogs and have cared for them in one capacity or another. I had two German Shepherds while living on a farm in Brazil. They were outdoor dogs, so my care of them was limited to feeding and grooming. Here in Minnesota, I adopted an older American Staffordshire and had her until she passed away a couple months ago. Prior to owning dogs, I fostered puppies and abandoned dogs of mixed breeds (mainly smaller to mid-size). Although I will be the primary caregiver, our house is full of love and very dog-friendly. My significant other, and my two sons, aged 8 and 11, live with me. My significant other loves dogs as much as I do, particularly playing with them and just hanging out relaxing, but he has a full-time job so he would be around less often. My sons are home-schooled, so they are usually with me, and they love dogs so much that they used to argue over sleeping with our dog and would end up on the floor with her under a blanket. I am a writer and spend a lot of time in front of my computer. My kids and I like to travel and play or hike outdoors. We read a lot too! No matter what, there will almost always be someone around to make sure your pup is happy and loved. I live in the Lone Oak Road neighborhood of Eagan. It's very safe and secluded, with several parks within walking distance and even a couple of minor trails. My home is next to a lake, with a good amount of shoreline. It’s perfect for walking and exploration! The backyard has a fenced-in lawn as well, so we’ll have plenty of opportunities to get some time outdoors. Indoors, the house is roomy. We do have a lot of stairs, but for any dogs with difficulty climbing, we have baby gates to keep them on one floor.
Reviews
Colleen is fast to respond to messages and is flexible when something has changed last minute. Extremely happy to have found her for my dog!
Colleen has been great with walking our puppy. She is prompt, thorough and communicates well. I’d highly recommend her!
This was the first time leaving my dog and Colleen was super about keeping me posted with notes and pictures. He was spoiled .. can’t say enough about our experience.
Colleen was very personable and open to whatever our needs were. She bathed Sophie and administered ear drops for us ? She was a little sad when it was time to pick her up in the morning - thank you, Colleen for loving our little girl as much as we do! -Guy & Gloria

Information Colleen C. would like to know about your pet
Some things I like to learn ahead of time: - Would you like to schedule a meet-and-greet before the stay? - What’s your preferred method of communication? - Does your pup have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? - Does your pup like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening? - What does your pup do well around? What does your pup try to avoid? - What’s the best way to spoil your pup?
A typical day
I love to stay active, so we’ll have plenty of exercise time together. My kids and I love to explore! We will head out on walks on trails nearby, play on the lawn in the backyard, and play in the snow if your pup enjoys that! We'll do lots of games of catch or tug-of-war inside or outside, and we'll spend time cuddling in front of the (gas) fireplace. We know how much pups like staying cozy, so we’re happy to accommodate that.
