Love in a Country Resort Setting

Pet care experience

A typical day here under my loving care and supervision. In the morning we get up after all of us sleeping together in the Master Bedroom. we have our morning Treats and outdoor time with Papa aka David from 5-6 am. Then David goes off to work and hopefully the pups are ready to go back to sleep for 2 more hours. Wink wink. Then we all get up and start our day. The dogs are outside or next to me in the kitchen while I get Breakfast ready. Some of the dogs eat together in the back yard, Some eat in the Kennel with their pups. Like Kylie at the moment. Some dogs will eat in the kitchen and one in the laundry room if we have a full house. My dog sitting helper arrives between 9:30 and 10 am. Morning medications are given to dogs that are prescribed. While I am cleaning up breakfast dishes. Leticia is outside playing with pups and cleaning up dog poops. Once we have finished our morning chores, I head out the back gate with the dogs that have lots of energy and we hike up the dirt road to where the vista opens up to vast countryside, my dogs run off leash at this point and we all instinctively stay together as a pack. If I am not sure about the dogs behavior or if I have been instructed otherwise then leashes are on for their safety and my peace of mind. Leticia stays back to care for the dogs that are not up for a big walk. Sometimes instead of going for a country walk, we walk around the large cul-de-sac loop. We stop for great smells and a water break and treats for sitting. We come back and rest or play some more. Fresh water is always available in a large Ceramic Bowl outside and inside. Thank goodness their is plenty of shade. Some of the dogs prefer to rest in the large clean carpeted dog houses. At this point Leticia is watering the plants and playing with the dogs and watching those who have decided to swim and race around the yard playing chase. I actually make their dinner in a VERY Large stock pot. I start this process at about 12-1pm every day. Their dinner is either a combination of chicken or ground beef with carrots, celery, rice and potatoes, this gets poured over their dry food. If your dog is on a special diet we will stick to that, so as not upset their digestion. Once I have dinner on stove I go out to play fetch with dogs and then I hose down patios and kennels and refill water bowls. If it is a hot day above 85 degrees, I put dog beds around the house and they all come inside to rest. Little dogs usually follow me around all day and they do spend a lot of their day inside. However we do go out for potty breaks at least every two hours. when evening comes we serve dinner between5 and 6pm. All the dogs come inside when it gets dark. At about 8pm the dogs get big chewy treats and then supervised potty time before bed. Dogs will only be in a crate if that is what the owner prefers. Bedtime starts about 9pm. In the morning we get up tails wagging and see what fun and smiles await us. I've been a dog lover my whole life and taking care of dogs for over 25years. I have a large yard and a big home for the pups to roam and adventure with out getting hurt. While you are away enjoying your vacation or business trips feel at ease knowing your dog is in great hands and loving arms! I am responding here to one very negative review, amongst all the other very positive reviews. That review is only one sided and he doesn’t describe how aggressive his dog was to my dogs.

My dog was but here and she didn't even notice nor did she offer to help with vet bills. A bit of an air head. I do not reccommend.

Coleen and David were great hosts and have a lovely , warm home for dogs. There is a large fenced back yard for outdoor activities .by the end of Sara’s stay, they were more like family than acquaintances. Highly recommend their hospitality.

Andi is very stimulated when he's there because there are other playful dogs and it's a great environment.

I brought my English bulldog for a week while we were out of town. During that time one of Coleen's dogs bit my dog on the shoulder. Coleen told me that my dog was fine but after picking him we had to take him to an animal hospital to undergo surgery and has had a long recovery, it was way worse then what Coleen told me. My dog has stayed with several sitters with no problem but I wouldn't recommend anyone to bring their dog to her since what is happened. On top of that she seems to always have 6 or 7 dogs at a time and is able to really watch over each one. I really regret taking my dog and now he has Large premineent scars because of it.

Information Coleen M. would like to know about your pet

I would ask the owner to tell me some things about their dog, things they love and also behaviors they do not like. For instance some dogs don't come when u call them or they jump up and scratch, some of these behaviors I can try to gently correct. Does their Pup have much interaction with other dogs and does your dog get aggressive with any particular breed or gender. I will want to know what time their dog is used to eating. Any information big or small. and also what is their normal routine like. What is their dogs favorite playtime activity. And it is important for me to know if their dog will try to escape through the front door. This will let me know if their pet needs to be put in another room before I answer the door so we could be extra cautious. Also at night where does your dog like to sleep. What if any medications does your pet need to be given.

A typical day

We go for walks right hear out my back gate. we also go for walks through the orchard and check out gopher holes and irrigation. Sometimes we get in the truck and drive down the road to the pond or creek because there are lots of great smell there along the trail.
