ABC Certified Obedience Trainer

Pet care experience

🐕 ABC Certified Obedience Trainer with a positive focus, dog lover, and life learner. I am currently nearing the end of my Master's program (Marriage and Family Therapy) and hope to one day implement Canine-Assisted Therapy into my therapy practice. I personally know how uplifting a dog's love can be, and I desire to help others benefit from it. Hopefully, those who experience its power will help to clear the shelters! It's a win-win-woof! Well, you know, you're a dog person! :) When I spend time with dogs, I like to sneak in training naturally as fun games when I can without making it them a chore. Toys, treats, and attention are all rewards for good behavior and bad behaviors will be worked with to help reduce/eliminate them. I will be sure to tell you what your pup did well when we were together, as well as what could be improved. I also believe in teaching the teachers; that is, training continues after I part with your pup as you learn how to help them learn! Learning can be done at home or on walks. I believe that a well-exercised and mentally-stimulated dog makes for a good - no, great dog and, even better, best friend! ^_^ 😻🐕 I also MEOW sit cats! Please *message me for rates* because Rover has not yet allowed us to separate dog and cat rates for visits so my cat rate is additional (+ $10/visit) to my dog/daily rate (rate dependent upon service). However, I like to give discount rates for all of my regulars, so paw-lease message me for a special deal to sit your feline friend! 🤗

Claudia is amazing. She took excellent care of my furbabies. She kept my home clean and communicated with me and sent pix of my two beagle mix babies everyday. She even taught them to behave better. She taught them to sit when getting treats & not jump up. She was very attentive to their needs. She played with them and taught things. She is like family now and highly recommend her services. Well worth whatever she charges. I will definitely have her back to my home whenever I travel.

Claudia is wonderful! She treats my dog as if he's her own! I couldn't ask for a better person to watch over Murphy! She is reliable and friendly, you can see how much she loves the animals!

Claudia was a wonderful companion for my cat Mona. Her excellent communication helped me travel with peace of mind. It was clear that she really cared about Mona and had her and my best interests in mind. I received consistent photo updates and detailed information about how Mona was doing. It was a huge relief to know that Mona had a real pal while I was gone. I would definitely hire Claudia again - she's responsible, warm, personable and kind!

Information Claudia R. would like to know about your pet

I accept all breeds - I do not discriminate against any breeds nor will I judge your dog based on their breed. I trust you as their pet parent to know and fill me in on their personality type, skills, and any special needs they have (e.g., meds, patience when approaching, avoid touching certain areas, etc.). I am more than happy practice any training skills that you want me to work on as well for no extra cost! * I am temporarily suspending boarding and daycare services to give our doggie more time with socialization training. ** HOWEVER, IF YOUR DOG HAS EXPERIENCE with dogs that have confidence issues and is patient in approaching, please let me know and I will open up the boarding and/or daycare services for you and absolutely welcome a meet and greet. Dyson has a few, great dog friends, but (like most people, haha), not everyone gets along right away so that's why meet and greets are a must. *** In the regular Boarding/Daycare information below, I explain a bit about Dyson's history following our cats' info. Boarding & Daycare info: If your dog is to stay with us: We have 2 cats. Please let me know if your dog has any experience with cats. If not, I am more than happy to have a brief, free meet and greet with our cats prior to your stay with since I have experience integrating animals and they have experience with dogs. We also have an American Staffordshire Terrier who is somewhat timid when first meeting people and new dogs, but will be everyone's bestest friend if they give him the space and few minutes he needs to feel comfortable enough to warm up and let loose! It is very helpful when new people do not lean towards him or stick their hands in his face and allow him to sniff. He has never bitten anyone but any dog can bite at any time so I make it a priority to do meet and greets so I can properly assess if the dogs are immediately compatible. Some dogs he has become best friends with right away and some dogs (typically only very small or very loud dogs) scare him to the point that it just won't be a good fit. But, just like people, you have to meet someone and get to know them before judging them! ^_^ A bit of Dyson's past: He was starved and abused by his prior owner for the first 3 years of his life, so big/tall people scare him at first. He loves kids and seems to trust them right away if they respect his space when meeting him. He was also in a shelter for a while, where he did not do well emotionally and was dumped back there after his first adoption attempt (until he met me, that is ^_^). I've worked with him for 2 years and I cannot tell you how different he is (see his before-and-after photo in his profile). He now has a full bag of obedience cues and adorable tricks, including an Army low crawl, a full "stick-em-up/bang" scene, yoga poses, and kisses in 5 languages! There is just more work to be done regarding his social confidence and I'll never give up on him! <3 The point of all of this is not only for full disclosure, but also to exemplify that I would definitely reciprocate patience and understanding with your furry friend!

A typical day

We typically walk around the neighborhood, but also live near a fenced dog park. I enjoy sprinkling in basic obedience lessons as they occur naturally with the dog. For example, placing the dog in a "sit/stay" before going outside.
