Pet care experience
Hi I’m Claudia and I’ve loved animals since before I could walk. I’ve been caring for my pets and my clients pets for over a decade. It started with friends needing help with their pups and cats. I worked at animal haven, back when it was still around, and would bring home puppies and pups that needed a break from the shelter setting. It was then that I began to develop my interest in helping shape animals experience with the outside world in a healthier way. I worked at a veterinary clinic for years and the doctors trusted me with their home and their cats and dogs. It developed from there, clients would refer their friends and partners to me and I grew in experience.

We've trusted Claudia with our dogs and our home since 2019. She takes her role seriously, and I trust her completely. She's handled difficult situations with grace, and though they rarely happen, she is prompt to alert us and has a plan in place to deal with it. I love that she stays in our home with our pets. It's less anxiety for all of us. She brings her dog, which is fine with us as it gives our pets some entertainment. The house is always cleaner than when I left it, and I never worry about the dogs when we are gone. Highly recommend Claudia. 5 stars for sure!
Claudia was fantastic! We felt so comfortable with her. Our dogs can be a lot to handle and she did an amazing job. She clearly has some dog experience and training. She kept us up to date and sent multiple photos, which we loved. She also cleaned our house and left it cleaner than it was when she arrived. We will be sure to use her whenever possible. Thank you, Claudia! Because of you we were able to enjoy our vacation and had no stress or worries b/c you had everything covered!
Claudia is absolutely the best dog caregiver we could ever ask for. She is so knowledgeable about animals and is now known as our dog whisperer. She continues to teach our dog, Kala, behavioral skills, and she helps us learn along the way. It has been key to have Kala get social time during pack walks with a knowledgeable eye over her, as Kala needs someone to correct her at times. It has been super helpful, as dog parks can be stressful for us at times. Claudia also has taken Kala while we've been traveling, and it is reassuring to get updates from her and know that Kala is having the time of her life while we are away. 100% hands down recommend her!
It's my very great pleasure to recommend Claudia Portuguese as a responsible and loving dog caregiver. She has earned the appellation "dog whisperer" because of her intuitive nature with dogs. In my home dogs are always under my watch. We have a small fenced yard and a property attached. Dogs stay on leash and I am always with them when outside as well. In your home this is no different. Even if you typically let your dogs out to yard independently, I prefer to be with them to make sure they’ve thoroughly relieved themselves before going back inside. This also gives your pups and I time to get some fresh air and socialize with each other. We’ll play games outside. Lay in the sun together. If they’re anything like my boy Calcifer, we’ll get out in the rain and mud together and then come home for bath time.

A typical day
I love to take walks on paved trail and hikes in wooded areas as well as neighborhood stroll. Depends on the time of year but I love to start and/or end the day with a walk. Since each dog will have a different energy level I prefer to match the activity with the pet. I would love it if you are open to your pets experiencing some new views and trails with me! That being said, what is best for each pets health will be most important.

Availability
My day starts with caring for my pets as the very start of my morning routine. From feeding to 2 or 3 walks and swimming trips a week with my pups. Plenty of stimulation for my little sis kitty cat, Obsidian. With clients pets it’s no different, first thing in the morning I get the pups outside, we come inside and eat breakfast. After about an hour, which gives me time to eat, we go for a walk or go out in the yard and play or do whatever type of enrichment the pup prefers. If I’m off that day we’ll most likely take a trip to a trail of my choosing and based on the particular pups needs. If I work, it will be the same morning routine and then I would come check on them on my lunch if they are close enough. If they aren’t close enough, they go out and I make sure they done both before I leave for my shift. I would then come straight home and let them out and make sure they’ve gotten to stretch their legs outside. If the weather is right, we will take an evening walk. If it’s a cat, morning cuddles, breakfast and cleaning the litter box. Cuddles and coast brushing if needed. I love to treats cats the way I treat my own. I give whatever attention and maintenance is needed.
