The walk (& run) is the single most important tool at a dog owner's disposal for maintaining a dominant role and exercising discipline. Similar to children, dogs from puppy to adulthood require boundaries, rules, and an exercise regimen to keep healthy energy levels and them out of trouble. Frequency and exertion intensity on walks play a huge role in establishing the position of leader in the relationship between you and your pup; what you put it in, you get out.
