Happy to care for any dog or cat

Pet care experience

UPDATE: Due to my new work schedule, I'm unavailable from 9AM-5:30PM Monday-Friday. I have limited availability on weekends and on weekdays early in the morning or later in the evening. I've loved animals my whole life. Now, I'm happy to care for any and every breed of dog or cat. For me, taking care of animals for a living is my dream. I love learning about each animal and their personality, quirks, and individual needs. I enjoy teaching them how to be a productive, helpful member of their family. I'd love to be a certified dog trainer some day. (I have completed online classes for pet care, including dog CPR and first aid classes by Melanie Monteiro and dog training classes by Dr. Ian Dunbar.) My training methods are based around positive reinforcement and gentle discipline with empathy and understanding. I love and respect every animal in my care, and in time, they learn to love and respect me, too. I take great pride in my work and I care for each animal as if they are my own. I was raised around dogs and cats since I was a baby. Our old farm dog, Maxie, was a wonderful nanny dog. He seemed to be a Newfoundland mix. He was a huge, shaggy black dog with a big heart. He taught me everything, even how to play, how to walk, and how to run 🐕🐾❤ I've been feeding, walking, petting, training, and administering medicine to animals since I was 12 years old, when I adopted my own puppy. He was a junk yard dog, a Doberman/German Shepherd mix named Buddy. He absolutely adored people and was very gentle with our farm cats. I trained him to be a good farm dog until he passed away. I have the most experience with mixed breed dogs, retrievers, labs, pit bulls, bull dogs, boxers, corgis, short hair cats, and long hair cats, including puppies, kittens, senior pets, and pets with special needs. I'm willing to work with pets of all breeds, shapes, and sizes. I work hard with patience and tenacity to deal with animals of all activity levels. I'd be happy to care for your pet and help them live their life to the fullest. CAT SITTING RATES: To book a visit, make sure to set the breed to "cat" in your pet's profile in order for the booking to accurately reflect my rates. My rates for cat sitting are lower than for dog sitting.

Claire was great and took great care of our three cats. She was attentive to their physical and emotional needs and kept us up to date on things in a timely manner, including written accounts and lots of beautiful photos. We will definitely seek her out in the future, given her outstanding performance.

Claire was great! Our previous sitters never even saw one of our cats in the 8 years they came. Claire had her out and about by the second day. 10/10 cat sitting!

TRANSPORT RATES: $2/mile (with a minimum charge of $10). I can provide one way or round trip transportation to a park, pet store, boarding facility, other home, etc. For example, one way transportation to a boarding facility 5 miles from your home would be $10. Round trip transportation to a park 5 miles from your home would be $20. TRANSPORT POLICY: Pet transport may be scheduled in advance and added to any booking. For dogs, I will always secure them with dog seat belts for their safety. They clip on to your dog's harness or collar like a leash. I also have extra harnesses to fit most small, medium, and large dogs. For cats, a cat carrier must be provided. DISTANCE POLICY: My search radius for bookings is 8 miles. Because of the local traffic and the increase in gas prices, for any bookings that would be more than an 8 mile drive, there will be a distance charge of $1/mile for each additional mile round trip. Example: If the booking is 10 miles away, the distance charge would be $4 per walk or visit. TIPS: Tips are never expected, but always appreciated. If you wish to add a tip, it can be added to the price of your booking through Rover. Bookings such as walks and visits must always be completed through Rover to ensure your dog is covered under Rover's insurance. I also accept cash, Paypal, and Venmo for tips only. Information Claire R. would like to know about your pet

I'm always happy to schedule a free Meet & Greet before confirming a booking with a new client. Rover strongly recommends this to their sitters and customers. I want to be certain that your pet is comfortable with me and that I'm familiar with their individual needs. This ensures the safety of you, your pet, and myself. I can meet you at your home address or a pet friendly park near you.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY: Inclement weather may include rain, storms, strong winds, extreme heat, etc. If your dog is comfortable and safe in these conditions, I'm happy to walk them, rain or shine. Some dogs may be anxious in these conditions. Some may be vulnerable to ear infections from the rain, overheating from the sun, etc. If your dog is unable or unwilling to walk in inclement weather, I can inform you of the conditions and reschedule the walk to a later date. If it becomes necessary to stop the walk early due to the weather, I can apply the remaining time to a future walk. (For example, if a 30 min walk is cut short by 10 mins, I can add 10 mins to another walk.)

GROOMING RATES: Bath: $20 Brush out: $10 Brush teeth: $10 Ear cleaning: $10 Gland expression: $15 Nail trim: $15 Deluxe bath: (includes all of the above) $50 GROOMING POLICY: Grooming services may be scheduled in advance and added to any booking. I can bring my supplies to your house if there is adequate space and equipment such as a bath tub or outdoor area with a hose. If you are a repeat client and your dog has been introduced to my dog, I can perform the services at my home. For baths, I use Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap (or another product you may provide) and towel dry. For ear cleaning, I use a solution of distilled vinegar and water (or another product you may provide). For gland expression, I will inspect the glands and only express them as needed. Some grooming companies may not inspect the glands before expressing them. Expressing glands unnecessarily may lead to impacted glands, which must be treated by a veterinarian.
