Pet care experience
I have been a dog lover since I was a child, rescuing my first dog when I was 4 years old and always having a furry companion by my side since! My most recent dog was a Chocolate Lab named Snickers. I got him when I was 9 years old and trained and cared for him myself. Over the years I taught him how to swim, perform agility courses, and of course your basic manners! I took him to college with me full time when I moved out. I am comfortable with old/sick dogs as I am familiar with administering medicine to animals when I took care of Snickers in his old age. I also used to live with a 5 month old Golden Retriever and was his puppy nanny for six months, so I am also highly experienced with young, energetic puppies. I also have experience volunteering with my local animal shelters, so I am comfortable around dogs of all types. I am patient, attentive, and caring to all dogs and can adapt to your dog's needs whatever that may be. Since moving to Nashville in 2020, I have since adopted a cat who is the greatest friend ever! So if you are looking for a cat sitter, I am also your girl!

Claire was super accommodating and helpful when it came to watching my dog! We drove in from out of town and Claire was flexible with drop off/pick up and took my dog on a walk after being in the car all day. Thank you for being a great host!
Claire was fabulous with my girls! So communicative and kept me updated the whole week. Sent pics too. Would vodka her again in a heartbeat.
Claire took great care of Paisley and made me feel very comfortable while I was away! Also, Clarie was so accommodating with my drop off and pick up schedule!
Claire has been looking after my dog since she was 4 months old! She is a fantastic caregiver and loves my dog like she is her own. My dog is a service dog in training, so it is very important to me that her caregiver take her training seriously. I don't trust most people to look after my dog for this reason. Claire is really great at keeping up the reinforcement (i.e. enforcing rules, correcting behaviors, etc) and is really in tune with animals. I know she has trained her own dogs in the past, and I would wholly trust her with mine at any time. We love Auntie Claire!

I live in a pet-friendly apartment building that has plenty of green space for walking dogs. I also live near a dog park that is popular in my area. I am happy to crate dogs or let them sleep in bed with me, and I can provide as much structure/training for your pet you would like!

I am open to all breeds. I am comfortable with nervous/shy dogs as well as high energy pups. I would like to know how the dog is with other people and other animals, so I can be sure to prepare for a dog that is weary around strangers and other animals or one that is a social butterfly. Also knowing their routine is important so I can make visits as normal and stress free as possible!
A typical day
I enjoy walking dogs to various parks if there is one nearby. I personally live near a dog park that I often visit with dogs I am watching. With high energy dogs, I can be active with them for as long as they need, or I am happy to lay around with your pet should they favor the couch more than a walk. I always adapt activities based on the type of dog and his or her age. But, as always, cuddle time and belly rubs are never restricted and in ample supply!

Availability
I am a graduate student at Vanderbilt, so my schedule is fairly flexible. I have classes Mon-Thurs primarily in the afternoons but for no longer than 4 hours at a time. My current schedule makes it easy for me to do daily check-ins, overnights, or really any other service you need.
