Hi there! My name is Claire- originally I'm from Cincinnati, OH, where I grew up with dogs, but I've been in NYC area for two years now. I just finished my MA in English Education, and I don't have the resources for a dog of my own (yet!) but I've always loved animals. During the school year, I’m a full time high school English teacher, but since I’m off for the summer, I’m hoping to get my puppy fix while ensuring the time you spend away from your pup is easy breezy! Growing up, I frequently dog-sat for neighbors, and while convincing my parents to get me a dog of my own, spent extensive time reading up on dog training and care. I used this knowledge to provide basic dog training to local families-- I'm a big fan of clicker training! However, my own two dogs and most of the dogs I watched growing up were rescues with a variety of backgrounds, ranging from loving to abusive. As a result, I'm comfortable working with dogs with all behavior patterns and levels of trust. During my time in DC for undergrad, I also walked dogs and cared for roommates' and neighbors' pets, but I'm looking to get back into it here in NYC! I know leaving a pet behind while you travel can be a source of anxiety, so while I am looking to supplement my income, I'm also a genuine animal lover who delights in spending as much time as possible with any type of furry friend, but especially dogs!
