Shelter & pet store experience ‪❤︎

Pet care experience

I've lived with and made friends with so many different species of animal that my camera roll is mostly pets. It's not just adoration, but also respect, which helps me connect and understand the nuances in their behavior and body language. I've experienced pet care work from different angles: retail, non-profit, and direct care, like Rover and Wag. It's taught me a lot of what I know today. I also have personal experience from living with pets. Caring for animals is a very strong passion of mine. I worked at an animal shelter for over a year and found it to be very fulfilling. I worked at a pet store for about two years, which was very different, but still put me in a position to continue providing care. I've been doing Rover and Wag since 2019. Meeting new animals has always been a joy for me and I feel good about what I do. Pets are family and I hold dear the moral responsibility that comes with that.

Cindy did an excellent job with our Epi. Really communicative, flexible and connected well with Epi. My wife and I felt that Epi was in good hands in every moment. Would recommend.

Super great with my cat and sends the best pictures of him. Also, she’s great at communicating and so flexible. Thanks again Cindy!

Cindy has done an amazing job caring for my cat. He doesn’t like everyone, but I can tell from the cute pictures she takes every visit that he really enjoys her visits. She makes sure to play with him with his favorite toys and keep the litter clean and feed him on time. Thanks Cindy!

Cindy was incredible with our cat while we were away on our honeymoon! She showed up on time, fed him, gave him treats and brushed him! She even managed to get him to play a bit, which is a feat unto itself. Thank you Cindy!

Safety, trust & environment

I know that as pet parents we always want to make sure our pets are well cared for and that THEY feel that way. I want that too! It is my goal to make your pets feel safe with me as best as I can. I can't host but I would respect your home as if it were my own. New faces paired with new surroundings can be a lot to take in, so as your guest and their caretaker I keep this in mind. I know first hand that any animal feels most comfortable in their own environment, and I realize I'm still a guest in their space. I understand that it may take time for your pet to warm up to me, and thats perfectly okay! I'm very patient and have a calm temperament. Please let me know if you have any cameras though. I get it, I have surveillance for my cats when I'm gone, too.

Information Cindy S. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know the personality of your loved one so I have an idea of what to expect and I can act accordingly. You have a timid dog? We'll take it slow. No pressure. You have a high energy dog? I'm going to make sure I have matching energy, too. Does your pet have any triggers I should know about? Do they have any favorite toys/favorite treats/favorite food? Do they like lots of pets? Do they get weird about being pet a certain way? Does anything stress them out? How are they with other animals? How are they with new people? Do you care for them in a specific way that I should adhere to? Do they take medication? Things like that are really important so that I can assess whether I would be a good fit or not.

A typical day

If you give me specific instructions, I will honor your requests. EXCEPTION: I won't cooperate if you ask me to use a shock collar on your dog. I’m not too comfortable with prong collars either to be honest. Please keep that in mind before reaching out. When it comes to walks, there's no rush for me. I'm very patient with dogs who just want to sniff and mark everything, or puppies that want to challenge the leash, even seniors who need to take breaks. I totally get it, and so its not a problem for me if a walk takes longer than what you're booking me for. All as long as you don't mind either. Once I start the Rover card, my focus is towards your pet. For the most part, walks on quieter streets are my preference; I'm not a huge fan of bustling streets on dog walks because I like to play it safe. I'm on board with meandering around the neighborhood or even with letting your pet take the lead. I try to be as conscious as possible of our surroundings either way. I love a good adventure! I'll let them explore to their heart's content as long as they don't eat stuff off the ground. If you tell me that your dog likes to meet other dogs then I will gladly check in with other walkers before approaching a potential new friend. If your dog likes to be the only dog on the block I'll surely keep that in mind and I have no qualms with compromising on routes if it keeps them in a good mood. You can also rest easy knowing that after every walk I'll make sure they have water and if you leave treats out I'd be so happy to reward them. After walks I like to take an extra moment to show some love before saying goodbye. Nothing warms my heart quite like a happy wigglying dog. I'll give them all the pets they want.

Whether you want a one-time visit, something temporary, or you're looking for ongoing care, I'd be more than happy to help either way. It's definitely something we can talk about. My schedule is pretty flexible, I'd be interested in meeting your ideal times and having a conversation about that.
