Animals love me because I’m chill

Pet care experience

Recently, I watched 6 small dogs, 4 cats, 2 chinchillas, 2 hermit crabs and a turtle. One of the older dogs I was told was crabby and has bit them. By the second day she wanted to sit next to me. I was bit the first day without a warning. I didn’t yell at her I just left her alone and told her it was going to be okay. And as I said earlier...the second day we were pals. I could even pick her up on to the bed ! While I was at their home I watered the plants twice a day. One of the other dogs had a lot of trauma before being adopted. Again by day two she was happy to see me.

Look, I don't love rating anyone 1 star. We're all out here trying to do our best. So consider this a combination review of both Cindy and Rover as a whole. Because ultimately you're taking a flyer on a person, trusting both them, and the service and the community at large to steer you toward someone who's capable of taking care of family members and, in our case, a house. We booked Cindy to stay with our two dogs for a week in October. On our first morning away, we checked in with her and were told she was feeling sick and had left the house. Okay, so this sucks. On a human level, I totally understand that people get sick, and I hope she's recovered since. But it was a different game altogether when Cindy informed us that she wouldn't be returning to the house. That's a betrayal of trust. What's more, she did not contact Rover or try to help us find a replacement. Instead we were left scrambling to find someone from 3000 miles away. Moreover, she hadn't slept in the house the first night as we'd contracted her to do, leaving the dogs on their own, and she left vomit in the toilet, which we came home to a week later. So, no, I would not recommend Cindy's services. But that's the trouble with this kind of site, and in general I wouldn't recommend using Rover, either.

Cindy was compassionate and competent in fulfilling her responsibilities. Returning home, we found our house, our elderly cat, and our garden to be in good shape, just as we had left them. Cindy was also friendly and communicated with us daily. The cat purred. We would call Cindy again.

It was such a relief having Cindy sit for us. Our pets loved her, we knew they were being well cared for. Her communication was always quick, and she sent many updates. Highly recommend her!
