May I borrow your dog? :)

Pet care experience

I am extremely passionate about all kinds of animals. I grew up on a ranch in Montana and have been around animals - including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, llamas, horses, cows, pigs, and sheep - my entire life. I worked at a holistic pet store in Seattle where I was trained on general behavior, actual nutrition (not subsidized by kibble companies), and natural remedies for dogs and cats - and have supplemented that knowledge through my own research and experiences. I love dogs, their positive outlook on life, and their enthusiasm. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to care for a dog of my own full-time, so I figured helping out other people with their dogs would be a great way to get some quality pupper time in my life.

Christy's love for animals knows no bounds. From what I've seen the feeling is mutual. Even my mom's little white dog Lucy who is territorial and cautious of absolutely ALL new people, loved her from the first moment. This is a dog that I had to cultivate a relationship with over months just to be able to be in the same room. She used to bark and growl at me constantly. Most of this was when she was new to my family and had only developed a relationship with my mom. I spent a ton of energy convincing Lucy that I was really the coolest member of the family. After a short time Lucy warmed up to me then we became best friends. She'd hunt me down to play no matter where I was and sniffed under the guest bedroom door for me days after I'd left. When I do return for visits she greets me with crazy enthusiasm and if I'd let her she'd give me kisses to infinity. That all changed when Christy became part of the family. The first meeting was a very different Lucy. She was immediately curious and extremely friendly toward our new house guest. Now when we arrive I get a quick hello from Lucy and she immediately searches for Christy. It took me months to accomplish what took Christy a matter of minutes. This is usually what I see around town and through or travels as well. Christy is constantly making friends with as many animals as possible that cross her path and aren't too shy. I have literally spent 20 minutes on the sidewalk watching her gently talk a cat from it's stoop to come visit her just so she can pet it and give it some attention. I'm not sure there is a person out there who has such an easy time with animals and can build such a deep connection with them in such a short amount of time. Any animal would be in great hands with Christy.

Information Christy G. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know about your pup's favorite things to do, what they like to eat, and where they most like to get pats and scritches. If your pup has any special personality quirks or needs to be interacted with in a certain way - those are great to know, too! I'm very conscious of animal's body language/signals and am VERY patient so I can definitely work with dogs that might be a little harder to establish a rapport with.

A typical day

I live in an awesome part of town for walks! My neighborhood is super walkable with lots of lovely gardens and birds to see. We already go out regularly for walks and would love to show your pup the sights! We've even got some friendly neighborhood chickens we like to say hi to.
