My family and I have always had cats and dogs as I grew up as a child and I have had dogs of my own as an adult. Currently I am a Basset hound Dad and he is my 3rd Basset hound. I've always trained and house broken my own dogs and I've studied and researched and learned many times over how to get the best results isn't the same with every breed of dog. From pit bulls to chihuahuas they differ. I bond well with most every animal and train according to each ones personality and temperament. Treats usually work best with any animal and any personality but some require more aggressive training methods as well as treats and firm tone to assert alpha dominance over the strong minded and aggressive dogs. Gotta play mind games with bassets and make them think that they really want to do what you're trying to teach them or command them to do and you really have to be patient with them (carry LOT'S of treats whenever a basset is involved).. lol, no really, stock up on treats!
