We have always had animals including dogs, cats, ferrets, and birds. I have taken care of and have owned Huskies, Chows, Newfoundland, Wheaton Terrier, Elk Hound and a Bangle Cat. I currently have a Newfoundland, Wheaton Terrier and a Bangle Cat which I love very much. My experience administering medication I have no problem giving medication to a pet.
