We know the walk is to give your dog a relief so there are no messes when you get home. But a walk is more than that for them. It gives the opportunity to get outside, get some exercise and burn off some of the excess energy they have from being home all day without any play. It is also a chance to smell what's going on in their neighborhood, to smell what new people, and what new dogs are around. It is also a chance to catch up with old friends they may have made It helps keep them happy. And it's just fun for them. It's also fun for me. As a life long dog owner I have had many years caring for them from the time they are puppies to when they are well into their senior time. Our dog, Sammie, a lab mutt, had the greatest life he decided to stay around until he was 17 years old. And when they are that age, you learn about all the extra things that a senior dog with special needs requires.
