To me, spending time with people and spending time with dogs are two comparable experiences: They both can be equally enjoyable, valuable and necessary. I grew up with many pets (including both small and large sizes of dogs) and spent the last year sharing an adorable Akita with my roommate. Dogs have always been an integral part of my sense of family. My rule of thumb with dogs is that they deserve the same degree of respect and decency as individuals. This translates into a mutualistic relationship between me and my dogs where I'll actively listen to them, provide them many choices in activity, and ultimately let them have the final say in how they want to be spending their time. I am available all hours of the day, including early mornings and late nights. Caring for your pets is my top priority. Trust me, it is a treat as much as it is a responsibility.
