Over the years I have noticed that there's a difference between people who like dogs and a dog-person. People who like dogs enjoy their company, will pet them, and even take them on walks. Dog-people go the extra mile, they understand that every dog is different and has certain needs or will behave in different ways depending on the situation. A dog person will stay up all night with their sick dog, taking its temperature and making sure they're alright. A dog person won't care about the excessive amounts of dog hair on all of their clothing and furniture. A dog person isn't annoyed when a dog chews on his most squeaky toy while they're trying to hold a conversation. A dog person gladly gets soaking wet when they attempt to give their water-resistant dog a bath. A dog person cares about dogs and treats each dog with love and compassion. I am a dog-person. As someone who has been surrounded by dogs my entire life, I feel as though I have a better understanding of how to appreciate and assist dogs regardless of their needs. Plus, now that I'm an independent dog owner (as opposed to having a family dog) I can also empathize with the importance of detail each dog requires. Being able to take care of dogs and spend time with them is not work, it's an enjoyable experience.
